The main quest, while not a master piece, is decently written and acted and the "realistic" setting and combat keep it engaging just enough to complete it without getting burnt out on the gameplay loop. But I agree that all the side quests of helping peasants find their favorite cow or w/e bullshit really doesn't add much unless you're really interested in the setting and wanna stretch out how much gameplay you can get out it.
