Damn I remember playing this game as a kid when it was four years old and my pc could barely run it. It's gonna be 20 years old in 2027.

Half Life 2 predates it and did all the same shit. Bioshit if anything had more gameplay, it felt more "arcadey" compared to HL2's constant, boring interruptions for Alyx yapping.

Based Kojima moment. MGS was dropping hour-long cutscenes and fourth wall breaks before these other "movie games" even figured out voice acting. Everyone else just playing catch-up.

How are either of these games that are in first person and almost never take control away to make you do a force walking sections or hit you with constant cutscenes the "grandfather of modern movie?" Please play video games before actually posting about them. Thanks.

I played them both. Huge amounts of talkie talkie talkie. Sure not forced cutscenes, but needing words to make otherwise boring content interesting

Bioshock at least got sexy art direction and dark vibes, despite gameplay being bland. Half-life is just shit.

why not use that can opener on a pocket knife instead of making a total hackjob of your can like this?

I'd only use a knife if it was a strong one like a Mora and I didn't have my swiss army knife so I don't bust up my kitchen knives opening cans

Bioshock is ass and doesn't resemble movie games, though its influence was far greater than it should've been. It devastated FPS games, not sony third person action shit

>Did you mean half-life?

The real answer. Ensured every generation of video games that came afterwards was dominated by linear movie-slop titles that focused on β€œMUH STORY!” over everything else.

That's literally how Half-Life 1 starts, just a very long fucking cable car ride into Black Mesa where you technically have control but can't do anything and have to wait for it to end. Same as the type of shit you'd see in TLOU

But Half-Life has so many awesome mods like Vampire Slayer, Action Half-Life, Wizard Wars, Opera, the Specialists and more with so many amazing user made levels made for them.
You don’t get that with TLOU.

Bioshock Infinite is the best in the series even though it isn’t. It’s like Problem Sleuth versus Homestuck. Yeah, Problem Sleuth doesn’t have any flaws, and Homestuck does, but Homestuck is still better.

what are you on about?
Bioshock was niche until BSI, and then it quickly died again.
It got pretty much 0 clones, and didn't spawn much of anything besides a lot of pain and lost jobs.
It got overshadowed in 2007 by COD
and BSI got overshadowed by TLOU in 2013

Wild how much an OST can affect the game. Maybe I should restart the original. Using a berserk patch + pipe to clutch an ambush felt really good.
I remember trying to find some fuckers head, or something, and kept having to deal with these invisible mutants that seemed invincible, and I didn't have enough sleep darts for all of them.
