The day I got Pokemon Blue is one of the most clear and vivid memories from my childhood. I can clearly see in my head the exact store my mother took me to, the time of day, the weather and what the store looked like inside.

It's honestly a retarded amount of work with pretty much no payoff because it's illegal to sell and pretty much useless as far as getting a job goes as well. Ladies aren't impressed, I'm an oldfag with no friends who would care about it and I don't even know if pokemon is still popular with the youth. Gen 5 is the beginning of the end. You can really start to feel Game Freak's priorities shift. Going international, artstyle starts shifting to the point that it doesn't feel like the Unova dex could ever be part of the same world as the Japanese gens,, incredibly linear, story is now in your face 24/7 and centres around shitty human characters, guts or outright removes previous fun sidegame features
That being said they're still better than the 3D games, but to me zoomers praising these feels like the equivalent of praising Dark Souls 3 or MW2019 or Season 10 of the Simpsons

The Unova dex is good too. Garbodor is a good Pokemon. Emboar is actually a fantastic starter and the only reason you hate it is because Gamefreak did Fire/Fighting three gens running over a decade and a half ago.

We're on gen 9 now. You can let it go. There are four pure Water and Grass starters, you don't bitch about that.

I regret not transferring more old Pokemon over. So many lost. I can't remember if my first Pokemon was a Bulbasaur or a Squirtle. My oldest surviving mons are from 5th Gen.

Does anyone remember weird moments with these games? Like, I remember being in the Silph CO. building spinning around on the tiles on Halloween and I had to hand out candies to other kids who came to the door.

I was sneak playing Pokemon Crystal (in the Power Plant) in class when the teacher interrupted our work and said the World Trade Center was attacked even though we are Canadian.

I can remember the exact times, sights, smells, faces, etc. too it's like a cutscene I can replay in my mind and move the camera around but I only get it with those Pokemon games
