If you played d1 d2 and d3 yet alone touched the books and other media, you;ll notice that d4 is disconnected. They use lore characters, but it's all disconnected. You have necromancer entering rathma tomb? Someone who knows necromancer shit would notice that it's like crusaders finding holy grail holded by jesus himself. Yet you not only enter hsi tomb, but find him dead by Inarius. And then another fuckup, because Inarius is such a prideful dick, that Ratham exploited his inability to shut him down for good, because if Inarius did anything to Rathma, he would prove to everyone that HIS OWN CREATION isn't flawless. Rathma was using those traits to calm down both of his parents and retain the balance.
Only good thing is the atmosphere. World is dark, nephalems are nowhere to be found. You're none, just a lucky fucker that still gets fucked by demons and still can get influenced to attack his own allies. While d2 protag was standing victorious over defeating Andariel, you can barely sit from exhaustion, still shcoked how the fuck did you survive yet alone banish the thing. Most sidequests end up neutral or horrible. Your struggles are insufficent to save the world, yet alone some people. You struggle and fight to buy some more time, get a breather in a doomed world. And then xpac happend and everythign goes into the shitter
I won't comment on the gameplay. It's literal watered down mobile game. It's not hack'n' slash nor arpg. Just mobile action game/live service. If you care about lore, check yt, it's not worth buying even discounted. I bought it and i'll repent for it. Do not make the same mistake as I did
