One of the few games that I'm genuinely disheartened at being so bad at. I love the artstyle, the narrator, the gameplay, the music... but the structure has me messed up. I always end up not making any good progress and since difficulty increases as time goes on, I'm left with underleveled heroes replacing dead ones and just treating water.

I feel like he should have allowed you to do multiple Finale, but you have to use all the other skills at least once. That would have been too hard to program for him I guess. Then I look at modders and the fucking crazy shit they did with character movesets and holy hell Redhook didn't try hard enough. I mean look at the fucking Kamen Rider Kuuga mod. Transformation based on if you Virtue or Afflict? Trinkets allow you to access more attacks? Attacks give different buffs depending on what position you used them from? Camping skills give unique buffs that actually feel thematically appropriate and have good costs for use? I swear, I would take Kuuga on every team if I didn't have that 5% chance of running into Deguva every Champion level dungeon. Every single fucking time it happens, my party almost dies except for Kuuga. I don't want to see him anymore, it isn't an actual fight, I want to remove his encounter completely.

What are your favorite character mods? I love the Knight (Hollow Knight), Kuuga and the Dungeon Meshi characters. Very powerful, but have some flaws. Knight has very little HP and can be brought to deaths door in a single attack, but I love his movement skills and the fact that he can heal himself. Kuuga can hit some absurd damage, especially with Pegasus, but if he gets hit, it will auto crit. So the character is all about timing. Dungeon Meshi characters all get boosts to food and find extra food, so they can sustain pretty well between fights without a proper "healer", but their heals are better then other classes if you can stand to gain some stress. I remember taking the Dungeon Meshi characters into the battle against the Miller and Marcile hit the Miller for an 88 crit with her big fireball after using a Mandrake root and her buff skill, along with Chilchuck using the move that gives extra damage to everything. Absolutely freaking stupid the damage you can get. I've got to finish up that run once of these days.

Yes, Senshi can use a skill that clears corpses and gives him back his limited use skills, which include a meat shank and some rice ball snacks. Rice balls are a party wide heal, Meat is a single one that removes blight. You get a big healing buff if you consume corpses and it also heals Senshi, like a lot! I once went from deaths door to full on Senshi after he got a 100 crit heal.

I really tried to like DD but the lack of variety was just too much for the amount of grinding. Same areas but bigger, same enemies but harder over and over gain. Oh you beat that boss? Now do it 2 more times. Gave up after the first DD raid, it's just not for me.

Probably about 2 years ago or more. I guess Kui got into Darkest Dungeon while the end of the manga was still being published and then posted that to her blog. Honestly kind of strange how it fits. The whole idea of the Darkest Dungeon does kind of work the same as how the Dungeons of Dungeon Meshi operate. I can also totally see Laios wanting to eat the Heart of Darkness.

>Combat is better, token system is a straight out improvement over the first game
>Massive build variety with paths, some paths feel like different characters altogether
>3d art works with the vibe of the game. Thats the part i was most concerned with, i probably still prefer the 2d chibi-like of the first one but at least the new art "fits"
>They work hard on the game, they have been releasing quite a lot of content and the new modules system is a decent change from the "acts" system on release
>The bosses are better than in the first one with the act 5 boss acting like a magnificent set piece to end the game with

The Cons

>Literally, every change other than the combat has been at best a sidegrade at worst a befuddling mistake.

With all that said i wish they just had made the same game again, with the new combat and new art if they feel like that change was a must but keeping the exact same gameplay formula.
Gimme a new base location, new dungeons, and just count the money.
Some people might commend them on taking a chance with making such a different game, im not one of them, sometimes risks pay, this one didnt pan out imo.

It adds a couple extra mechanics that are a bit cumbersome if you are havign trouble grasping the rest of the game, but its not back breaking.
If you plan to play the game a second time or w/e then you do you, but if you aren't the type of person to revisit a game might as well leave it activated

I think DD1's DLC actually detracts from the core game for the most part. I can't outright say you should disable it because the DLCs do provide fun challenges to take on and they don't really get too much in the way of the base game, but by and large the Crimson Court is a drain on the rest of the game until you're ready to take a few in game weeks to power through it.

I don't really like that it infects the rest of the game with its status and pretty quickly results in your heroes wasting away from a debuff you can't protect against unless you focus on clearing out the latest courtyard boss. It doesn't quite pace well with the rest of the game, ramps up too quickly and distracts from crawling the regular four zones. I think it should go inactive after killing a major boss there until you attempt it again, after that it should start ramping up.
