>Do you get any performance boosts if you play a Switch 1 game on a Switch 2 (without buying a DLC)?
Only if the game already had an unlocked framerate (If you want to go higher than 30), had an unstable framerate, or had dynamic resolutions. It will typically stay at the max of that unlocked framerate or capped framerate and at the highest resolution possible when dealing with dynamic resolutions. It's the exact same situation as playing Xbone games on a Series system, PS4 games with Boost mode on a PS4 Pro or on a PS5, or overclocking a hacked N3DS.
The Switch 1 is essentially a pointless paperweight now unless you want to play Labo games or only use it to play translation patches and pirate.

This covers a decent amount of what's changed for games but it's not a comprehensive list, just the games you'd likely want to know about.

>So what exactly do the DLC patches for Zelda add?
Framerate increases, resolution increases, graphical increases in general, and the new bottle feature in BotW and the blueprint copy feature in TotK.
Kirby adds remixed maps of the entire game along with the standard performance upgrades.
Metroid Prime 4 adds mouse controls, 120 FPS, 4K, and higher quality textures as far as we know.
Pokemon Z-A is visual mostly performance buffs but it's very likely the S1 version is an afterthought.
