Sales is one thing but Tales needs someone who actually knows what to do with it.

Arise did get a DLC story add on. But that's about it. Bamco just doesn't have anyone willing to work on a new tales yet, that's why they pivoted to just remaster old tales games.

where are the indie tales clones?
honestly a 20 hour tales game sounds great to me
these games have always suffered from the "the battle system gets good 8 hours in" design

That's where the 2D titles shone for me. In Eternia, you get the combo brawler right away instead of hiding them until the second disc like Symphonia.

IIRC Arise sold well, but if Arise is any indication of what Tales would be moving forward, then I'm fine with never playing a new Tales game ever again.
