Basically how I feel. Crossbell unironically drags shit down the more it gets involved. Zero was a decent game in its own right, Azure crawled up his own ass and set up nothing but garbage, only really giving a good payoff at the trade conference. There are no payoffs like we got in the Sky trilogy even though Josette is probably one of the most obnoxious characters Falcom very produced, even SHE got a decent payoff. Crossbell has no game like 3rd, and it shows. Even a game where the writers were so retarded not to include an Olivier and Vander ARCUS team up in some dumb retarded fanservice scene at the MINIMUM gave us the wedding. Ao literally ended with "oh yeah and then crossbell was annexed by the empire lol"
Noel's arc is shit
Elie is tied to a villain that is so abysmal that there is no hope for this character to ever be interesting
Wazy is tied to Wald, who had a reasonable character arc, but a god awful execution
Tio is diet Dr. Renne with some SCIENCE attached, and the series STILL isnt over Renne's trauma for some reason
Randy- Reasonable enough character, and they actually give him a love interest
Dudley is cool at least
Estelle and Joshua are there to talk about how much worse Liberal is than Crossbell, even Jochiam is a more evil villain than Weissman
Rixia- Literally a slab of meat to look at, her character is abysmal
However, even discounting this shit, that isnt my major problem, the fact is Crossbell is a parasite on the rest of the franchise. None of the characters listed above ever have anything to do or anything of value to contribute outside of being eye candy when they show back up. Its debatable for even other returning characters, but the major difference is characters like Agate and Tita show up in the background supporting the primary cast. Crossbell gets WHOLE arcs still devoted to these characters. a lot of which is the same shit (see reverie) The Cao shit in Daybreak 2 especially was just strictly embarrassing.
