If only the d-pad wasn't the worst, I would say 9/10.

>Rip off Dreamcast controller with worse build quality
>Use ergonomics that are shit for Dpad use to prevent 2D console multiplats from taking off
>Release a fucked API that makes it easy to port from 360 to PC, but fucks up the controls for everything else

Asymmetrical is the only thing that makes sense, you don't want two equally sized analog sticks in the same position.
You want a smaller right analog stick that doesn't take room away from face buttons, scroll wheels and trackpads, but can be used for flickstick or additional movement inputs if necessary.

The current Xbox Series X controller has the absolute best d-pad in a controller ever. The buttons have mechanical switches that make them more precise (but noisy) and the triggers are nice and have rough surfaces for good grip.
I personally prefer the Switch 2 Pro controller because it feels absolutely perfect (grip, sticks, buttons that don't feel mushy but also don't make any sound) but I can't deny the XSX one is top tier.

It's a shame that first party controllers are a scam.
