The kind of hardware they're building for today doesn't even exist when they start making the game. GPU comes out and 2 weeks later a game is sharted out that only runs at 1080p 60fps on that card and nothing below it

He's right thoughbeit. Fortnite runs at a silky smooth consistent 165fps and still looks great on my dated machine. I can't say that for any other UE5 game.

Been replaying cyberpunk lately with path tracing enabled, and theres been basically no stutters or crashes.
Dips to 45 fps on specific parts but i cap my frames to 60 cause i dont wanna be cooked alive.
But it's making me sad to know cdpr are just gonna leave it behind probably cause the code is a complete mystery for all the devs there.
I just played the demo for metal eden, fps on ue5 from the ruiner devs, whom are former witcher trilogy devs.
Stutters abound, and very random dips in frames. Cutscenes are pre rendered and amateurishly edited.
Game allows you to choose lumen OR ray tracing. So disgusting. I legit chose ray tracing cause i hate lumen so much.

Or maybe they shouldn't use lumen when it's not necessary?
Lumen is good for Fortnite, because it's a game with dynamic object placement, destruction and day/night phases.
There's no reason for Silent Hill 2 or MGS3 to use lumen, they're in static environment.
On top of that, SH2 renders the entire city in front of you even when it's obscured through the fog.

UE shills love to say it's not the engine, but time and time again we see engine limitations on how they translate into how the games look and perform.

For all the improvements it makes it suffers massive performance issues and weird graphical traits like lack of contact shadows, stutters, blurry faces.
