Why does everything about this game just feel off, sluggish, and bootleg?

I frankly have no idea what you're talking about because it's the smoothest playing classicvania with the most QOL possible, still staying true to the original trilogy without making it free jump arc bing bing wahoo tier like CV4

>no support for 6 button controller so item has to be bound to a button combination (you can't even use it on stairs and it constantly triggers by accident)
>downgrades directional whipping to just a single direction, fucking with muscle memory, further abstracting you from the game, and creating artificial challenge through bullshit limitations, as well as an over-reliance on the shit subweapon system
>whip hitbox is only a miniscule thin line in front of you that lasts very briefly that makes hitting small or quick enemies a pain in the ass
>above also makes hitting candles feel really jank, especially since they aren't even properly lined up with your jump arc (just amateurish design all around)
>tons of random mechanics like the extended whip, backflip that requires standing still and double tapping jump (triggers by accident, pain to use in the moment), and the moonwalk. They just feel underbaked, awkward to use, and haphazardly thrown in
>item balance is terrible where most of the items are fucking worthless but a few are insanely OP so it's a massive pain in the ass if you die once with one of the few worthwhile ones and now the boss is like 5x as hard
>massive slowdown on certain bosses
>game just feels really sluggish in general, movement is slow, and each chapter has to load at a black screen for 30 secs
>branching paths are markedly lower quality. They are clearly low-effort, half-assed, and untested, including one background that's missing its texture and is just one giant green square
>level designs and bosses range from bland and uninspired to leaving you scratching your head wondering what the fucking point is or who tested this
>many annoying sections and enemies like the absolutely fucking retarded bridge section that just feels straight up untested and unfun to play
>many levels, bosses, and mechanics are just aped straight from CV1
>garish artstyle
>unskippable cutscenes with the worst voice acting known to man
worst Classicvania by far.

Rondo is the easiest game in the series, while simultaneously feeling the most frustrating, while also having no hard mode. The alternate paths are pure junk not even worth your time and Maria is just easy braindead mode.
SCIV is harder in its base mode than Rondo, feels much better to play, and has an entire hardmode after that.

Nailed it, Castlevania 4 is basically super mario bros with a whip lmao. Air control is NOT classicvania, no matter how much filtered shitters and M2 (the actual worst classicvanias in the series) want it to be so.

This, classicvania games should be braindead and on-rails. You shouldn't have to actually dodge or be able to maneuver properly, and bosses should just stand there while you nuke them

I have countless hours in this game, it's so fucking good. Controls feel great, music is amazing, level design is fantastic. I wish they didn't stop making Castlevanias like this. Only negative is the final boss being a total pushover. My first Castlevania games were, well, the three on the NES, and this felt like the only post-8bit sequel that lived up to them. Super Castlevania just posed no challenge whatsoever and felt like a cakewalk and I don't like the SotN gameplay much. you're a fag.

I didn't struggle I thrived. I just replayed the levels cause I enjoyed them. To be fair I never played Super Castlevania's second loop, but difficulty aside I just didn't like the presentation and the levels as much.

It doesn't. It feels very nice. You're obviously just not used to that old arcade style which is based on very deliberate input. The game is designed to be played at that steady pace so you have to think about your inputs, rather than be able to react to everything.

the music's top tier, the voice acting is hammy and lovable, richter feels good to play as and the levels are fun. and since it's not very difficult, the game's short and sweet.

It feels worse than the NES Castlevanias.
I could never get over how ugly this is (and yes, it looks just as shit on a CRT). The laziness and lack of quality just smacks you in the face from the beginning of the game, and then the level design just constantly has you scratching your head constantly wondering
>why?
>who tested this?
>what is the point of this?
>who thought this would actually benefit the level?
And if you happen to stumble upon the awful "alternate routes" you might as well have just entered the 7th circle of kusoge hell

Rondotrannies overrated this bland by the numbers Classicvania outting because the game used to be obscure so Rondotrannies were desperate to act like they were part of a super cool secret club. Since it's been easily to emulate everyone is discovering the truth about this trash.

You think SCIV is harder than Rondo? That's interesting. I see that opinion periodically. I think the only thing that is harder is the final boss rush but it's been a while since I've played either.
