DoC is already effecting the remake trilogy, Deepground and Nero are in Intermission and Yuffie loses hard to them. So a DoC remaster/remake to capitalize on that like CC Reunion seems extremely likely.

I think Remake in general suffers less from padding or some story changes, but rather the desire to incorporate every part of the compilation, when they aren't as popular or beloved as the original game.

square enix tried their hardest to make tifa into a character worth caring about in rebirth by sidelining aerith and they failed miserably

ff7 rebirth chapter 1 to 11 is a 5/10 game and chapters 12 to 14 is a 9/10 only because aerith is now in focus
