wrong
>combo means more than accuracy
>aim is more important than tapping in rhythm
in conclusion, rhythm is secondary which immediately disqualifies it from being an actual rhythm game

No, I'm right. You said there was no rhythm involved. Now you're saying there's some rhythm involved, it's just ancillary. I'm not gonna get into the weeds on that because I don't care enough.

true I misspoke by saying there's no rhythm involved, however rhythm taking a secondary focus to accuracy disqualifies osu from being a real rhythm game

Let me rephrase: I don't have a strong opinion as to whether or not accuracy or rhythm is more important in Osu!. What I did care about was settling the record on it testing your rhythm.

op you can dislike things, it's okay. just don't claim that osu isn't a rhythm game just because you also need to move your mouse lmao
if every rhythm game was just clicking a button to the beat then that'd be a bit boring, wouldn't it? that's why you also autistically wave your hands around in chunithm and beat a drum in taiko.

Most of the fun with rhythm games comes from input method. VSRG's like stepmania, etterna, DJMAX are most straightforward with no concern for input, which are best played with keyboard. If the game has an associated input mechanism like IIDX or Popn then it's best played with it.

osu's great on a keyboard and mouse combo for most people, but in almost all other cases a specialized controller (like a taiko drum, tasoller or ddr mat) will be the most fun way to play any rhythm game.

I liked Hi-Fi Rush, but people only fixate on one side-character's haircut to even look into it. Parappa 1, 2, Guitar Hero 1, Rhythm Tengoku/Fever and Audio Surf were my earliest. I got on my first DDR pad when I got Mario's DDR for gamecube.
OSU is just the best form of that format, and the mapping helps. The mapping helps Audio Surf or Clone Heroes, this is not a mutually exclusive pro at all. Just one that outweighs the polish EBA has, with less compressed DS audio, that's all.
I was going to get into that Dead as Disco beatemeup, but apparently the musical elements are surface level and nothing is to the beat. Right now my only 'Rhythm Game' is the DMC series.

project diva works really well with a controller.
you can make keyboard work with most games but your specific keyboard might not be good if it has ghosting/ polling rate issues
desu though the controller is what makes most rhythm games fun

>bro just play this game that no one plays except me and my 3 buddies from this obscure rhythm game forum, it has 30 different songs and only costs 50$, you'll also need a 200$(+300$ transport fees) custom controller from japan to play comfortably but it's not that expensive considering how high quality the game is! and if you get bored of replaying the same songs they offer map packs, 10 songs for only 20$ it's totally worth it. This game is so much better than osu, there's a little mascot dancing on the side of the screen whenever you press a key!
Thank you but I think I'll just stick to the free game with infinite content and an active community

Phantasia Lost is the port/continuation of the mobile gacha game that got EoS'd by DeNA some years ago, but the game was very popular in Japan and it got a lot of support from both players and doujin circles, so the game ended with over 100 songs, both old and new. The PC version now has all of the songs from the original game along a whole bunch of new DLC.

osu! isn't even that bad compared to shit like Geometry Dash. That's how you should really start a rhythm bait thread. "Oy bruv hit these completely obtuse frame perfect presses to be considered best in the world."
>look inside
>it's a guy tapping maybe 20 times and somehow he's rewarded with tons of street cred in whatever score system they use because they're all frame perfect presses that have nothing to do with the song in even the slightest capacity

Try playing a real instrument, like a guitar. Accuracy (i.e. hitting all the right notes) is a prerequisite for keeping the rhythm. A talented guitarist will do both in that order.
Playing a song with just the right finesse while keeping the beat is a deeply satisfying experience, and is fundamentally what makes rhythm games enjoyable.
