They patched it so that you can now choose the Kingdom roster as a whole rather than it being randomly generated. That's good. On the other hand, I can no longer change skins on people in Kingdoms mode. That's bad.

I'm gonna go with this group. Never tried it before and it consists of the healer I use the least and the 3 characters I've used the least other than Bounty Hunter.

Nevermind, I stand corrected, they just moved it to the character profile. It's a bit of a pain in the ass to properly see the differences now, but I assume this means I can change it at any time. These infernal skins and weapons look sick.

I haven't even beaten the main game yet, the last act is bullshit

First scary moment of the campaign. Something to get the heartbeat up. My guys are already starting to get tired but resting during Escalation 1 is such a waste.

Sweet. More inn materials early on.

The strategy I figured out during the Werewolf campaign is simple: Save up on inn materials and upgrade every inn on your way to max militia like pic related. 50 inn materials that are well worth the cost. At least in the last campaign, it means that the city can just defend itself and you no longer need to worry about it.

And first relationship. I'm starting strong.

What difficulty?

I regret wasting so much time in DD2, I kept playing expecting the devs would take a fucking cue and improve it. The launch was an absolute disaster, took them 2 years after the launch to get the fuck out of discord and realize the game is so fucked it's almost dead so they finally released simple shit that has been asked for eons like increased battle. They have learned absolutely nothing from DD1 and the game is still an unbalanced mess with characters kits still waiting for the last tweaks. The crimson court faction for kingdoms will be released tomorrow and nobody gives a damn.

Why are you only playing this one now?

The next comes out tomorrow.

They were absolutely retarded with design choices and the early access was the worst thing they could had done, releasing the gameplay as it was and tweaking shit to call it new content. They ran out of the epic money, the studio got bought and they are now on a leash despite of whatever they claim. I highly doubt those guys will have a pair of testicles to pull a DD3 after this one.
In comparison, just from a glance Slay The Spire 2 seems to be going in the opposite direction and its developers have enough sense to not alienate their playerbase.

Red Hook deserve to go under at this point. They have the framework for DD1 style runs based off Kingdoms. But keep refusing to make it for autistic reasons.

I talk on a daily basis to people that started their artist/gamedev careers because they played DD1 and every single one of them said verbatim at least once "RH never understood why people liked DD1"
There's a chance that one day someone may mod a DD1 mode into DD2 and structuraly I think this would be possible by using the nodes of Kingdoms as basis, but it's unlikely it will ever happen because RH killed the potential for a mod scene very early for DD2.
No doubts that whoever is in charge is a complete autist, for pushing shit like the carriage and refusing to add QOL like battle speed, but I think the element that cements that are the retarded hero shrines because they HAD to force you to sit and watch the "epic" redditstories just to unlock the complete kits instead of making it a one page comic like DD1.
The Epic money ruined their brains and they thought the game was bulletproof.

Now that I have changed paths and put proper mastery, this party is actually really good.
And I'm enjoying this quest. This campaign feels different from the nice one in a cool way.

hes mainly there for stress heals since aggresor makes an excellent tank in the aggresor path, using reap if both front enemies are on fire you can have him healing for 20 every turn assuming both enemies get hit

my jester unironically just uses the default kit tho, it works great for what i need him to do which is blindness/bleed/stress heal, battle ballad is also excellent if you dont want to give crusader holy lance

Being harder wouldn't be an issue as long as the modding tools were available from day 1 or two months later, this would had been the smart move, it would also had taken advantage of the modding scene the first game had. But instead, they waited years until the game had less than 900 players on steam to release that. It's DD1 but in a desert setting with an airship and a new VA, but much harder and with way more focus on interacting with curious to get buffs. The devs are turbo autistic and pretty much made an entire new game in terms of visuals, bosses and mechanics to a point one could question why they didn't went ahead and developed their game instead. You either love it or hate, if you use a single character that doesn't fit a composition, or if you don't get the grasp of a region's mechanics, your team is dead. The champion quests have a RIDICULOUS spike in difficulty.
It was supposed to be released this year, but in their autism they decided to basically fix/tweak all the code of the base game so it becomes more stable for future modding, so chances are the full release will be made only in 2026.

Should I beat confessions before playing kingdoms?

Technically, Kingdoms happens after Confessions but it's really loose canonically (Exactly like from DD1 to DD2)
You should unlock everyone's stories through the Shrine of Reflections before going to Kingdoms. You don't need to, but they're fun and you can't find them in Kingdoms.
Other than that, the only thing Confessions has that you can use in Kingdoms is the cosmetics.
