Why do I enjoy Oblivion SO MUCH more than Skyrim?

I need technical reasons and not, "you're a faggot" or "you're just another empty zillennial" this time around.

Oblivion has it's boring bits, sure, but Skyrim bores me automatically by default and I absolutely despise it's color pallet & forced Fallout 3 combat mechanics (hated fallout 3 btw). At least Oblivion has some colorful life to it and some interesting quests.
