I have a Steam Deck and a ROG Ally, even if they're upgraded sub 720p on a 1080p screen looks awful. Plus the appeal of the first Switch for me was a lot of those 3rd party games because Switch was basically the only option when it launched

All the upgraded games include a proper resolution bump, the only downside is that some of them need to be payed for like BOTW and TOTK alongside some upcoming games like Prime 4 and the new Shitmon.

The upscaled resolution in handheld mode really is hideous, I was playing Banana Rumble a few weeks back and it looked hideous. They really should give us more options on how Switch 1 games are presented.

I think the Deck is able to run the game at a more smooth frame rate especially since you actually have access to performance mods on the Deck. Even if the game does performance worse, I still wouldn't want to get it for Switch 2 since there's just less freedom with the game there and no guarantee if that version will be playable on Nintendo's next system in the future.
But when I was talking about upgraded titles I was mainly referring to exclusives that the Deck has to emulate like ToTK, BoTW and Forgotten Land.

There are no games yet. This is how it always is with console releases nowadays, you're never supposed to buy day 1 since there are no games. You wait a while (years, probably) until a bunch of games you care about are out on the thing and you buy it then. Only reason to buy early really is if you want to keep the console on its earliest firmware in case some jailbreak comes out.

Yeah I get ya. I'm a ally owner and hater, but man is the ally's screen on another level. I used my switch oled for everything, it was my go to for indies and shit, but with the switch 2 I only play first parties and pirate 2d games on my Ally.

Like, Mina has a 120fps mode on switch 2, gun to my head I couldnt tell, its still a blurry mess when anything moves, on the ally its razer sharp.

And I bought that fucker for 350 bucks over a year ago

I might as well chip in since this guy is clearly going nuts. I still get some minor usage out of my ps4. Japanese exclusives, typically shmups, do not always release on steam sadly, so in a strange twist of fate ps4 is actually still getting a healthy stream of games to this day, maybe in another 10 years it will be a proper console. Switch also gets these games, but they are unplayable due to increased input delay making them objectively worse, so it's terrible for weeb stuff. I literally only enjoyed 2 games on this console, Odyssey and Mario maker. Everything else felt like a soulless rip off design to be a 10 hour long one and done little kid's game. I'm very dissapointed with this console.
