Still no announcement of the new Neptunia mainline either even though it's been over a week since the 15th anniversary. Which makes me wonder if it's running into difficulties if they're still not confident in showing it off. DERQ 3, too, those two are probably the biggest titles Compile Heart is working on and they absolutely need them to hit because they are in a pretty deep hole now with their sales continuing to decline across the board and Neptunia effectively getting locked out of Nintendo consoles.

I think this is a common tactic to front load games or anime with very violent starts to get your attention then they tone it down for the majority of gameplay. I don't really care for your conspiracy posts but I just want to say yes Compile Heart as they are is done. This year I played way better games with better fanservice like Dolls Nest and TurretGirls that costed way way less than CH games, and they sold a lot better too. It really opened my eyes to that CH needs to basically completely overhaul their operation. The Mainline Neptunia announcement is the last straw this company has with me. I actually imported the game this thread is about (DERQ Code Z) last year and it was so horrible it turned me off from anything else they had lined up.

It's not, really, it's just a rating for content with bigger impact than something in a game rated E but at the same time not strong enough for a T rating, and that's the problem here, Neptunia is a franchise with CG images like this, it's a franchise that really shouldn't have a game tame enough for the E10+ rating, if you remove the fan service and that kind of sense of humor from the games, it loses part of its appeal and identity.

Ecchi in Neptunia is more than just bath scenes, it's pantyshots, torn clothes (Marvy's CG in V/RB3), skinship (like what you just posted), Iris Heart's very existence, and of course plenty of innuendo. The Agarest War games had that now-verboten "rubbing minigame", even including lolis, and they were all only rated Teen. Neptunia U Action Unleashed had Senran-like clothing damage mechanics, albeit not to Senran Kagura's extent. Also rated Teen. Of course, the takeaway from this is that the rating boards aren't the problem.

As already mentioned there is a touching minigame, it's not like in old Compile Heart games at all but it exists, and she's one of the available characters.

They have a few anime-style games, but otherwise yes, they're pretty much known as "the store that sells Duke Nukem". That said, they're a general-purpose storefront much like GOG. in terms of gameplay, VII (avoid VIIR) is basically THE nep game and you don't have to play the og trilogy to get the story, it's basically a conclusion to a saturday morning cartoon anyway
in terms of story, trillion is the best they have while also having decent gameplay, which is fucking funny because it was mostly done by the NIS witch team that CH ended up dicking over, the mary skelter trilogy also reaches a decent second place in this category

Fairy Fencer F and Mary Skelter 2 are both good entry points, and they got me into CH games. Fairy Fencer is like the Nep games, except more shonen-themed and with a cool henshin mechanic. Mary Skelter 2 is a gritty dungeon crawler with fairy tale theming and a dramatic story.
