I really like how it's Shinji of all people that gave Kira 'the talk' and told him to man up, grow a pair, and start facing up to the responsibility of taking up the gauntlet on something only he could accomplish.

The irony was delicious and never, EVER matched again in any other piece of fiction.

Sucks too. Seed series could have been alright if the Story didn't rub out blemish Kira had and bend over backwards to justify every single action Kira took.
Zafts actions were warranted for 90% of the original Seed. Then they made the guy running the nation into Hitler at the last possible second to justify Kira having to kill him. Destiny's premise was nice too. Kira having done something wrong and someone is out to get justice? Would have been nice if that stuck and they didn't just drop Shinn as the potential MC just to have Kira retake up MC role halfway through to show you he never did nothing wrong ever.

Flay should have stayed around longer. It would have made Kira less of a Gary Stu. Would have made a foil that he had to overcome. To stop listening to a manipulative bitch and make his own decisions.
Instead the moment she started having a remote control over him they kill her off immediately. Making Kira infallible once again.

Pretty much. hell, shinji has an okayish development as the show goes on. Then the whole thing with Toji happens and it all goes down the drain as the people close to him start dying and then gets tanged, gets back, suffers some more, and it ends.

Realistically, he's a 14 year old aspiring musician that gets forced to become the in-universe equivalent of a jet fighter pilot.
He's not very talkative but insanely competent as a 14 year old, Asuka's implied to be a child genius that already went to college as well.

The adults are dysfunctional, there isn't a single married couple among the cast, nobody has kids either.
