I beat it a couple of days ago and really enjoyed it. If you enjoyed Lecarde 2, then it's just more of that. If you didn't play it, then the first 20% of the game doesn't exactly do it many favors. If you're not sure what to do, you might end up going through the 3 long-ass countryside areas more times than you have to looking for what you need. It's when you get to the castle that it gets good. The place is fucking huge, takes a lot of effort to explore, has some puzzle solving, and it feels dangerous.
There's also a huge amount of upgrades, relics and items to get. A lot of them (boots in particular) are just for passing certain terrain, and a bunch of relics only let you get through one particular room or survive a deathtrap. There's quite a few rooms that will just kill you in various fashions if you don't either have the relic that protects you from it, or in some cases you have to use a certain power to survive it. iirc all of these deathtraps except one are foreshadowed pretty well. I saw there were some people who were frustrated by the amount of kill rooms, but personally I enjoyed them for the atmosphere they added.
The particularly bad: when you go out of the pause menu, there's about half a second of game that happens before you can do anything. That sucks when you've just spent potions to refill your hp, and one of the 20 hazards on the screen hit you before you can do anything.
