How do you expect the atmosphere of the industry to improve if you keep stigmatizing new and interesting ideas that don’t damage existing good ones?

Black Mesa is the best remake I've ever seen. They actually did what a remake SHOULD do and expanded and reworked the weakest areas of the game, Xen. In jaded old gamer minds, Xen was the worst area and therefore more Xen = bad but that's like getting your news from the television or something. The movement staples were preserved well too without fucking up anything. Xen is a little rough with some of the scenery models clipping into your character but it all works.

Too many remakes are shit like the Dark Souls remake where the worst areas of the game are just left untouched except for SHINY GRAPHICS. Because you know Dark Souls is a perfect masterpiece and nobody ever complained about the last half of the game being totally unfinished???
Dumb fucks in charge of that should have thought about Scholars of Sin Shitty for more than half a subconscious second.
just play abiotic factor until you get bored of it and then play Black Mesa or even better Half Life 1 to see where literally all of their ideas came from

I appreciate that they tried to completely overhaul and "redeem" it but really it just wasn't great. I liked the fact they depicted research stations that were run by scientists before the resonance cascade and the headcrab zombies in HEV suit.

Black Mesa originally was just limited in scope to the facility, then released while they worked on the Xen half
for all the weird or shitty parts of Xen that are dumb, the cool jungle and creepy abandoned outposts hit really hard

Regardless of opinions on BM itself, I think it's safe to say the Blue Shift remake blows the original out of the water.

The rule of 3 puzzles gets old real fast in the remake of Xen. Its fine in the earlier chapters but becomes exhausting in Interloper
