Have any of you sold off or downsized your physical game collection?
Why?

Nah, my collection was never huge and never valuable enough to even bother selling.

I really need to cull a large portion of my collection but I don't even know how to get started with selling on craigslist or ebay or whatever and I'm too lazy to figure it out. I'll probably just end up dumping my entire collection at a local game store when I get cancer or some shit.
Anonymous No.719213824 [Report]
No but I want to. I don't play or even look at any of it anymore.
The problem is it becomes a full time job dealing with online collectors or scammers, or you get 30% of the value from someone who is willing to do so.

Is Putin going to make Zelenski give him his game collection before he stops the war?

i plan to sell soon

i realized the only reason i had a "collection" is because it was the only way to play the games when they were relevant, i didn't buy them to watch them collect dust

how often do you think he plays those games

how often do you think he's played jeopardy for the PS3

or all those PS2 tiger woods games
Anonymous No.719214167 [Report]
i got the various 360 and >PS3 >games i wanted, i don't care about older systems that are easily and better experienced with emulation

i sold it (most of it right before covid unfortunately, so i missed out on a lot of money), and spent some of the money upgrading my PC
>why
Mostly because it was too much upkeep just to play like once a month. Discs were fickle and would sometimes just randomly crash due to disc read error (my gamecube did this a lot), and have to troubleshoot whether its the disc or the consoles laser. get new laser, it breaks a few months later. Controller starts malfunctioning, have to buy a new one, especially bad with n64 controllers. Ps2 memory card would corrupt, have to buy a new one (don't buy third party ones, they corrupt like crazy). have to replace gameboy (and some n64) cart batteries so they can save and/or tell time. Have to check 2nd hand discs and carts to make sure they work, sometimes you won't notice till like halfway through the game when an FMV or song will keep skipping or some shit. have to deal with Psp batteries bloating, which happened to 2 of my 3 Psp's. Not to mention the price was already insane even pre-covid, and bootlegs were fucking everywhere.

Just ended up being too stressful to keep up with, and being able to load up a rom was a lot more convenient, even if a bit soulless. It also free'd up a TON of space which is now taken up by anime merch instead
I don't regret selling it, but i also don't disdain people who continue to collect. It just became too much to keep up with for me personally.

Current listing and selling mine on eBay. Found out I have psoriasis, kinda severe, the good meds are expensive and I got caught with my pants down money wise.

>I don't even know how to get started with selling on craigslist or ebay
1. create an account
2. take pictures of item
3. buy a box and bubblewrap/paper to cushion the item
3. create a listing, with the weight of the item and pictures. ship with USPS ground advantage for 90% of things and make the buyer buy shipping to make things simpler for you
4. when someone buys it, click "print shipping label" on ebay (you get a discount), tape the label on the box, and send it out. if you're lazy, you can even have the usps pick it up for free

Its seriously that fucking easy....
if you can't find a box or packing paper, just reuse the ones that come with your online orders

same
if real life had shops like JRPGs where you can just walk in and sell your entire inventory I'd probably offload like 90% of my stuff.
>But Gamestop exists!
NOT LIKE THAT

lol no
i bought even more games

pawnshops exist too
>not like that either, they take too much of a cut
how do you think JRPG shops work? they buy your 5000G sword for like 1200G

I sold my collection about 10 years ago when I moved into a flat with my now wife.
I didnt have a massive collection. I had most of the mainstream consoles (excluding neogeo) and around 20 ish games for each, more for some (eg snes, nes) less for others (jaguar, CDI)
I kept some of the hardware for the better consoles, and now have flashcards for all.of them.
Don't regret it.
I still like the idea of owning a bunch of stuff, but can't really see the point.

I've never owned more than 15 games for any one of the dozen systems I have. I'm not in the business of collecting bookcases worth of plastic, it's more efficient to just pirate whole libraries.

I live alone in my own house. The store I work at lets me buy furniture for half price, so I bought like ten discounted book shelves. Figured since I have no wife or kids that at my age (late 30's) I might as well start collecting. Now I'm an idort. Just started my game collection and I only have around 40 physical copies, but I intend to fill out one of my rooms with hundreds of games, movies and books. Or I might just like my hallways with bookshelves and put them there. I haven't decided yet. I don't have friends or family so I can really do anything I want.

If you really think about it, a physical disk is still digital data, just stored in a disc instead of a cloud server.

I did a long time ago since I don’t ever replay games. I physically collect books and music though

Collectoids do not play with the stuff they collect. They just enjoy the feeling of having a rich collection. I bet this guy has never play any game on these shelves beyond just checking if they still work and walks past them every day.

Yes.
I think Americans have too much physical stuff. I got tired of my house looking like a storage facility. Threw away 90% of my shit.
