Playing the Prime remaster I couldn't help but feel that the game was not art at all. The whole solo exploration thing is just... mid...

Samus games really need to grow up.

Running around alone on some unknown planet looking for upgrades just to explore some more and fighting bosses ain't it. Who the heck is the target audience for that?

I hope for 4 they drop the whole lonely exploring of an alien planet thing and finally give us the mature game Samus deserves with an expansive open world, fully fleshed out and diverse characters and cutscenes that tug at the heart strings and really make you think.

Metroid would be pretty fun if they made it a sandbox like you're flying through space and suddenly there's wind turbulence that makes Samus crash land on a strange planet and the crash destroys the ship and your suit and she has to survive on her own. Just imagine a huge open world planet and survival mechanics like you gotta explore for materials to craft stuff to survive with and maybe make it co-op too so you can play with friends. Maybe also add some RPG elements to spice things up.

That would be such a sick fresh take on Metroid games.

Am I the only one not excited for this? I only played through the series last year but Prime 1 instantly become one of my top 10 games, I loved the trilogy overall even though 3 had some missteps. I'm dubious wherever Retro Studios can really recreate that magic 20+ years later and I imagine it will be good but bland and forgettable like Dread was.

Dread was fucking awesome and it killed all my interest in Prime 4. Now I just want more 2D Metroid, that's where the real juice is. Prime has nothing else to offer.

Retro is a completely different company than they were 20 years ago. None of the same staff is there. They dropped off hard when they switched to doing mario kart and expand dong shit.
