The original was a smash hit because it exposed Russian culture to western audiences that loved it because it was a breath of fresh air. Since the original games however Ukraine has had a color revolution and now there is the cultural mandate that the second game must not in any way expose Russian culture and produce the twisted, cringe globohomo paradigm instead which it does and its a shit game because of it.

The funny thing is, no one even talks about this game anymore, but whenever they drop any trailer, then they suddenly get hundreds of thousands of views even on IGN and a myriad of comments.

And it got 167k views on the first day, no traction afterwards, meanwhile other games typically get 30-40k views. Only brand new announcement for major titles get a fuckton of views. Shit's botted af, imho.

I loved the original but my pc cant handle 2 and I have no intention of getting an xbox, so i haven't really been paying much attention to it, but the ps5 release certainly caught my attention as i might actually finally upgrade one of these days

I have 200 hours in it, but I haven't touched it in months. Waiting to see if the UE 5.4 update helps with the performance and the recently released mod tools bare any fruit.

Have it but didn't touch it a lot because of optimization meh and promise of enhancements.

I'll play it in 4 or 5 months I believe.

I've been STALKAN' since 2007, and I literally don't want to even touch S2 with a ten foot pole.

It's UE5 jank + Microsoft mandated Westoid shit + console trash (feels like Far Cry 3-6), all in one, with removed features (ie. A-LIFE), worse modding capabilities, ... etc.

After Sergei kicked out the OG team back in 2012 and put the project in ice, the real STALKER experience died.

Ukraine has basically nothing in the ways of their own culture. Famous Ukraine born thinkers and poets like Skovoroda were writing in Russian and considered themselves russian. The only exceptions are nameless fringe poets, basically unknown to the public and usually nationalistic in nature and thus culturally impotent.

SOC and CS were hits because they were fun moddable military shooters and filled a niche for more realism than codshit. If you get it to run it's for me it's one of if not the best game of the year, and I'm saying that as someone who didn't really care about the original titles.
It is very beautiful, atmospheric and has superb simple level design.
