I once had a friend who could never beat me at smash. He would lose every match after playing 9 hours in a row against me.
So he thought he could beat me at pokemon.
I never bothered with IV and EV shit or meta pokemon, so he tried harded as best he could, spent days min maxing a meta team. And then we had a single battle between us, and my mid team beat his by pure rng with most of his attacks missing.
It was fucking hilarious and I will never forget it. He slowly stopped talking with me after that and eventually we never talked altogether. Also he got into drugs and getting stupid tattoos. Very sad, but it's his own fault.

I got second place in the first national Red/Blue tournament, shit was so cash.

Also the moves only carry a team so much, if you want to make fun of competitivefags, you should be mocking the fact that VGC teams almost always have like 3-4 Mon in common.
Always have people running Incineroar, Flutter Mane, Landorus (Therian or Incarnate depending on their needs, but either way, Lando always shows up), [insert most recent box legendary/legendaries here], Rillaboom, Amoongus and other such strats. Rather than making fun of the attacks, you should be making fun of the fact that they're often just looking at someone elses homework whenever some other guy has VGC success, and changes just enough answers/team members to the point where it seems like their own work.

In Gen 1, Hyperbeam was actually a really cool attack because it, due to an oversight, didn't trigger the "you have to wait a turn" effect on your Pokemon if it knocked out the enemy.
Ever since they fixed it, it's been complete dogshit, only Slaking could kinda make it work, at least before the physical/special split.

Pokemon battles should be much more interesting than they are. There are so many options, but some options are so much better than everything else that everything revolves around making those options stronger or countering them.

It was actually a thing on Wigglytuff for a brief period in VGC 2018 I think. Incineroar had just gotten Intimidate so the idea was for Wigglytuff to use that get +2 Special Attack from Competitive and rape something with STAB Hyper Beam. Because GF are boring. It's a shame as well, the Blueberry Academy portion of SV's expansion had all trainer battles in doubles format and it fucking ruled. Just as we get that, they decide to go for a change in gameplay with Z-A with it looking like Champions is going to be a containment game of sorts for people who like turn-based.
I really wish we could have had at least one more RPG based Genius Sonority game like Colosseum or Gale of Darkness, if only for the fact those games were based around doubles.
