I downloaded the demo, played for 2 hours, but I don't really know what I'm doing. Those tutorial NPCs feel forced at the beginning and there is nothing immersive about them throwing shit at you, they explain a lot but the more they explain the less I understand. The crafting system and the UI feels like a complete mess, and more time is spent figuring out how do I obtain the ingredients for whatever I'm trying to craft than spent progressing. Seriously, why isn't it a thing that if I hover over an ingredinet, it tells me if it's crafted or an item looted, and ideally tell me where is it from? Isn't it standard shit in all crafting games? I also died like 5 times because a random hostile mercenary wandered into my base and my cat kept attacking him.

I want to like this game but at the moment I find it very difficult to do so, so I'm kinda glad I hadn't spent any money on it yet.

Where it's from is kinda understandable because some stuff you can get can come from multiple sources all over the place but I'm pretty sure the game does tell you if you made some items.
Not sure if it's entirely dependant on if those items you make can be found in that form from other sources or not which is why that tag doesn't stick to everything you make.

Right now I'm working on a fishing village, a museum, wanna turn the hill cave into a science lab, and rebuild Vernis from Elona with some additions around. Skill goals currently are 60 carpentry to be able to make my own king beds.

Wanna take no shit from any standard NPC? Go get stronk by making great food.
Wanna go to floor 100 of the void? Better get happy adhereing to pet meta.

That's not really a thing. Even in the absolute best case scenario where you effectively have an infinite resource loop to alternate crafting and sleeping it's still slow progress because this is an infinite progression game that you're never meant to "finish."

Best you can do for carpentry is fish and saw them into bonito flakes or I think do a hammer alchemy loop with planks.

There hasn't been. Story has one additional village added that has nothing much going on in it. There's underwater dungeons that have a bunch of new monsters.

God weapons are great and most of them retain value forever due to their faction-wide bonuses(some even have non-faction bonuses that are fantastic) but in terms of raw power some do eventually get overtaken if you play long enough to get some ridiculous Ether/Adamantite weapon with good stats. That's either story progression or it's locked for now until noa adds more. You don't need to go in there to finish the puppy quest. If you've already explored the floor and there's no puppy that means you took too long and it got killed by something while it was exploring. Just leave and come back in a few days and it'll respawn.
