i did 7 on my first playthrough on release
2+secret ending in my second.

i think the FIA surgery ending is probably canon because they created 2079 game assets just for it and aspects of it match up to the sequel (like the fact that it will be seet in chicago). FIA surgery also explains why you'd start at level 1. and the main character being neurologically incompatible with cybernetics is a big theme in neuromancer which is a huge influence on the cyberpunk world/plot.

Crystal Palace ending is by far the worst from a storytelling perspective

Depends on the vibe you go with for your character.

My first V was Nomad who got chewed up by Night City and spat right back out. He went full moralfag in the face of death and in Phantom Liberty he sided with Reed and killed Songbird, to end her suffering and prevent the NUSA from getting her. He then left with the Aldecados and Panam.

My second V was a full on Streetkid dreaming of becoming a legend. She sided with Songbird all the way and got her to the moon, despite the betrayal. She gave NUSA the finger and went on to solo Arasaka tower and become the legend.

my first playthrough I took the Arasaka deal to not get anyone injured but then refused the secure your soul
I really liked it, V fought tooth and nail to live but in the end chose to accept death rather than sell his soul

I got the Phantom Liberty ending where i euthanized So Mi at the end.

Send Song to the moon, assault Arasaka and cross the Blackwall, leaving a body for Johnny's engram. I've done them all but this just felt the most right.

Best, probably becoming a legend or suicide (johnny also dies, so not that bad).
Worst, giving you body to johnny or being cured and becoming mr. nobody (imagine getting mogged by a nigger. tho johnny also dies in this one).

To me the issue is less with Johnny's character and more to do with Johnny not being an actual person, you're giving your body to a digitally recreated representation of a person.

Though to me, the reason you'd ever do that is to become that yourself and """live""" on beyond the blackwall in a truly alien way. Johnny taking your body in the deal is a consequence not the reason for my decision in that case.

You also have a ton of experience and a ton of contacts, you could sell that experience to anyone, especially as a netrunner. Half the hacks you pickup would theoretically sell for millions.

IIRC there's a different dialog from Alt if you're a netrunner (as a netrunner, you have more chances). But that's it.
If you're not a netrunner, she'll just absorb you.

There's a reason NetWatch is considered the least evil corpo in the game. They're protecting people from it.
Unless you're chaotic evil and don't care about anyone, then that's ok i guess.
Remember, So Mi is way more talented than V as netrunner, and got fucked up messing with it.
Also, don't forget, most of time, only niggers are trying to poke with it.

And personally, i don't feel like you became a talented netrunner if you choose to play that way. You just buy SD cards that burn people's brain and control cameras.

Exactly. She's a terrible person but she's also put in a situation very similar to V. It's easy to save someone who's morally virtuous. The hard choice is to save someone who's morally flawed. Songbird's single redeeming quality was that, right at the end when she had everything to lose, she ended up trusting V and revealing her betrayal.
Maybe that doesn't make up for all the other stuff, but it shows she wasn't entirely evil. V has the option of sacrificing themselves to give her a second chance at life, or condemn her to a fate worse then death. The ethics of the decision ultimately rests on if V is willing to show forgiveness.

I don't think Keanu Reeves is a good actor, he's been in some memorable movies but it's mostly despite his acting chops. That being said I think his wooden stiff performance as Johnny fits the burnt out, drug addicted, and slightly psychotic musician/terrorist pretty good.
Also the game did a pretty good job with the boomer rock. Samurai seems like a real band.

nothing fits the theme of the setting or the story better; the goal is not for V to live, it isn't for him to destroy arasaka, it isn't for him to escape night city - you are told time and time again that his primary motivation is to become a Legend of Night City in the time he has left. This is why V's Reputation tracker talks constantly about rising through the ranks and achieving that status.

Yes; you can meet people and help them out along the way, and get wrapped up in all sorts-but your goal is to become a legend before you inevitably die.
