Dolls Nest
Guys (and girls), I know Im late to the party but - can anyone explain to me endins of Dolls Nest?

From what I understand, without Nehma, Nymphs are going to die since no new Queens could be born. But she dies in both ending - in one along with player character (which Steam board call "good ending" somehow), in another PC finish her off and turns into Queen herself. But does that lead to Nymphs dying off too?

Also, any similar games I could play? I really, REALLY liked this one.

Think I recall it being mentioned that either way, the dolls are completely and utterly fucked. Letting Nehma go would still result in her genociding the dolls. Killing her means no more dolls, but you've already seen the destruction caused by them. Whatever species that used to be on the planet are entirely dead and all that's left are swarms feeding on each other. There can be no more new queens since you need seedlings, but ALL of those trees you see, even in that pic, are queens. They can get really big and I don't recall anything in the lore implying Aqland genociding queens. If anything, it sounded like they just forced their nests into compliance. The only real threat are the infestations in the lower levels, but if a single soldier like Leki is capable of preventing the more serious parts of the infection from spreading out, arguably it "should" be fine? You also have Porokka autisming themselves off the planet.

It's also entirely possible that there are other progenitors like Nehma, since you have various organizations investigating the Dolls Nest and it's possible entities like Nehma are some sort of bio-weapon for interstellar warfare or something.

Also Herros best colony. I want to rape Yoyo.

Some guns are worse than others but most are pretty good, only rear weaponry is lacking but still feature some good stuff, mostly missiles and sniper rifles.

>skills
After killing boss of area, enemy Nymph spawn at certain spot. Once killed, they drop Nerve Sample that might be used with Nehma to increase your humanoid points (5 per sample).

>>719238259
This is really odd. But either way, Nehma dies, right? Either finished off my PC or dying in her arms? As for automaton investigating Hod, its found without body at almost deepest point so it is entirely possible that organisation it works for no longer even exist.

I really just want to ensure Nymphs survive, one way or another. And Yoyo is cute, yeah.

That's just my interpretation, but from my limited understanding it seemed like Nehma was the one messing with Nymphs, she was definitely in favor of Colonies constantly fighting each other. Other Nymphs talk about Seedlings being suspicious and source of chaos, Nehma in her own dialogue says something about Gardina's conflict with Gypo-Verde being some kind of a natural selection. Also every final area boss owning a part of her maybe had influence on them. So her getting killed off means that now Nymphs can potentially unite instead of constantly infighting.
>since no new Queens could be born
Well (You) somehow become new Queen, so uh maybe that would be good enough.

>it seemed like Nehma was the one messing with Nymphs

Well, she says so herself - "They wander about, leading other Nymphs astray. Those led astray can even become Queens themselves, betraying their own mother. Without them, things would stagnate. Boring. It is important to stir the pot, now and then. Good luck with that."

Problem is, I don't have information about PC potentially becoming fully capable Queen herself in that other ending. All I could get was remark from Shara (aka "failed queen") about how without Nehma, no new Queens or Seedlings could be born.

Yes, its just video game but I feel somehow responsible for ending the story.

Since the Variants are similar to the Nymphs, maybe it's possible that given enough time, some nest develops a biological means of reproduction. They won't stay the same, but it's certainly possible, at least. Mitochondria used to be its own creature a gorillion years ago, but now it's part of our cells' cellular makeup. Same thing. The pope in Alqand only gave up because she's a quitter. Maybe there is a way to create new seedlings without Nehma? Either way, the nests in the middle and upper areas are supposedly thriving, but we never actually see a living nest up close, so it's REALLY hard to say to tell what a healthy nest actually looks like.

When I think about it, if you take in account entire insect (especially ants) references, it is possible that only Seedlings can become Queens. Nymphs behave very much like ants, with whole idea of Queen that spawn various different types of Nymphs for different purposes ("standard" being equivalent of worker, "combat-type" of warrior, etc) and recognizing each other by smell. Likewise, Variants are pretty much very much insect-like and Nehma claims that Nymphs are just a different kind of Variant, probably more evolved. And with ants, only special larvae, fed properly, can become new queen - when it mature, it leave nest along with other "flying" ants, travel long distance (during which it collects genetic material from male ants, who dies right after "sex"), land in suitable location, lose wings and start new colony.

Anyway, Im still in process of farming pearls before proceeding to ending. I really want to get as much as possible from single play.

I do think Nehma might have been lying about us being the last seedling. It's very obvious others are being gestated from the roots of the buried Alqand queen. Really, I don't understand at what point a queen starts producing seedlings nor why Nehma is integral for a queen to produce seedlings. Seedlings are born in other nests without Nehma being explicitly there, right? IIRC, all the hostile nymphs with nerve samples you can encounter are all seedlings from other nests. If you need seedlings to make more queens, at the very least, there does seem to be a shitload wandering around. The key identifying characteristic of seedlings is that they don't talk, but other nymphs are naturally (sexually) attracted to them and they somehow start rebellions and conflict by themselves.

Actually, one thing that's very suspicious is that Nehma refuses to tell us who or what we even are. She tells us that what we are doesn't matter, and that the only thing that matters is we find her body parts. If all seedlings are are confused homeless nymphs, then potentially, any nymph could start their own nest. The problem is that rebellion seems to be the key for causing a nymph to become a queen, and you can only betray others before you run out of people to betray.

Game precisely call Seedlings "Nymphs without Queen":

>They're Nymphs but also not. Seedlings are Nymphs who are not born from a Queen. They have no Queen nor nest to protect. They wander about, leading other Nymphs astray.

Seems like either born from Nehma herself (which fits given her tendency to "stir the pot") or "naturally" being born from area around Ark, Depths and/or Central Cavern (since you can see "womb sacks" in hub area and Central Cavern, where you start).

You also have Shara that attempted to become Queen herself after she participated with Eden in leaving Nehma in state you see now but for some reason, she did not became proper Queen and when fed with Pearls only produce bionic parts aka incomplete Nymphs (and cry after doing so - its really sad, she mistakes you for "Allmother", offers her "child" and when you both see its just another part, she breaks down further, like mother delivering deformed stillborn).

Central Cavern is special case where enemy Nymph spawn behind red barrier that can get removed only after around 2/3 of the game. There is guide on Steam with locations for every enemy Nymph.

Overall, Nymphs are both amazing and scary beings. Silicone-based but imitating biological functions (bleeding Cells, bionic parts resemble human organs and can actually replace their parts), can travel around by digitizing their mind and reconstructing body at selected tree, form complex, eusocial structures with different types of Nymphs (single Queen spawning new ones, standard type workers, combat-type and defense-type for expanding and defending, mechasmiths for manufacturing) and so on. I love Japan and their imagination.

Favorite weapons? Once I found the greatsword it was basically the only weapon I used. I also liked the burst assault rifle and the basic missile launcher. My build was pretty uninteresting but it was fun to play.
Anonymous No.719255575 >>719255958

Ironically, most of best weapons are found pretty early. Burst AR is pretty good, very first AR (ArrowHead) along with late acquired Gladius are both very good and ahead of rest, Clest and D-Senpaitachi SMGs are better than others, Scimitar and Trio are very good energy rifles (Trio is my favourite that carried me almost entire game), missiles and sniper cannons are the only rear weapons that makes sense (normal cannons are just too heavy and costly to use for low damage they offer, in general most rear weapons cost fortune to fire and does only marginally higher damage than normal, hand weapons so they makes little sense outside of boss fights), Many people keep talking about how Sabi is great but greatsword is simply consistent in use and can be held to charge and strike at selected moment instead of having to also tract your own blade drawing animation to boost in right moment.

Weapon balance is the first thing developers must fix if they plan to make a sequel (hopefully).

Oh and Caladbolg is pretty great (very late game weapon but penetrate shield and overall does huge damage due to very high penetration value) and that grenede launcher with high rate of fire also works almost like rifle but with exploding bullets.

Have you tried the BugVolc 2, Gungnir, and GC T02 FALG rear weapons? I've found them to offer a good damage/BP ratio.
The niche of rear weapons is in magnifying the damage you do in a single opening, since you can fire them at the same time as your primary gun. I've found them quite useful throughout the game.

Gungnir as base missile was quite useful when I had weight to spare. But BugVolc 2 and FALG were too costly for my taste, especially later when enemies start to get lots of armor and resist damage.

I don’t think the hostile nymphs are all seedlings. Nehma creates all seedlings, they don’t come from queens. They just infiltrate and disrupt other colonies. You don’t just need seedlings, you need Nehma to create new fertile queens. The whole weird ecology is a mutation of her function as essentially a self-replicating nanite weapon.
