Agreed, I first thought it would end up as a tutorial island for post-nauvis stuff whit rocket upgrades but it isn't, it's just tedium.
You can't take anything worthwhile with you because anything you need is unlocked on the planet.
And then it is tedious stuff like to get resources you mine asteroids which need to be crushed, like normal SA, but to get crushers to automate it you need 500 space science which you unlock on Muluna.
And to make matters worse to get plastic you need petroleum and cellulose, the former you get from combining cellulose with crushed alumina, Muluna copper basically, and also gives you bitumen as byproduct which you can turn into solid fuel or petroleum with water if you melt down ice.
And for cellulose you need wood and sulfuric acid, iirc you can get some pure sulfur on the planet, with wood coming from crushing trees.
And trees you get from a very slow recipe in sealed wood growing greenhouses, or chemical plants the former are better, by combining tree seeds, made out of wood, with water and CO2 which gives you 10 trees every 5 minutes.
Making a sealed wood growing greenhouses requires an empty greenhouse, landfill and 100 trees.
Oh yeah and trees have a rocket capacity of 10 while sealed wood growers are too heavy for rockets.

The only reason combat exists is as another resource sink to automate, it isn't about combat in of itself.
