GT7 has all of the ingredients to make a good racing game, but the fucking fossils in charge of game design are unable to make it fun.

Gran Turismo is a "you had to be there" franchise now. They haven't made a good game since 4, and Forza was basically free to get better than worse all the while eating into GT's market. They even split the franchise into two and service two different demographics.

If Sony were smart, they'd put GT on Xbox and fuck with their install base. That's what Forza is doing on the PS5 right now.

The reason you think Forza is better is because Forza has a better and more dynamic chase camera. GT seems more focused on cockpit view.

GT actually focuses on having chase cam be consistent so that you can hit your braking and turning points no matter what camera you're using, Forza and its vignetting + FOV for speed effect is actually dogshit on high speed tracks because it makes it easy to miss your reference points.

That was certainly the downturn in terms of gameplay, sure. I would argue that the existence of Horizon is more what started the death of Motorsport proper. Almost like they could work less because they had two different games now.

That and FH captured all the players from other franchises considered "dead" at the time (PGR, NFS etc.).
