Obligatory HL2VR is better

>PS5 has an excellent opportunity to launch their console with fully VR capable controllers, incentivize the porting of flat games to VR and just generally convert more people to VR by making it easier for the average person to try VR (possibly with a better Google Cardboard equivalent)
>They would rather launch their console with overengineered controllers with cutrate components that include a dysfunctional warranty and no games and then also sell a VR headset that no one will buy
PSVR2 deserves to sink.

I still don't get why Sony didn't try to convince Valve to release it on PSVR2. Could've been a neat third party launch for it but nope.

Speaking of, is there a decent PCVR headset yet? Or is the Quest 3 still the only real option unless you want to take out a mortgage.

Or is VR just fully dead at this point? Even Valve doesn't seem to care much about it anymore and seems to be focusing all their energy on the Deck instead.

There's this supposed Deckard coming soon but Valve really took their sweet time.

honestly i wish it got a ps5 release cuz more people deserve to play it. hla is one of the greatest gaming experiences can recall in the last 15 years. it was absolutely amazing and the greatest vr game by a long shot.

I mean Valve was fine with it being playable on Quest, surely they'd be fine having it on Playstation. Although they do have to step outside of their Steam ecosystem in this instance, it didn't stop them before with Portal 2 back in the day.

Psvr2 just got eyetracking and foveated rendering support on a lot of games, it's the cheapest headset that can do that.

PSVR2 getting sold for 250 buckaroos in the US right now, add the 50 dollar PC adapter and 10 bucks for a bluetooth receiver and you're gucci. Hard to beat unless you go quest 3 + accessories for 600~ for wireless memes

Hasn't that supposedly been coming for like the last 5 years? Even so there is no way it won't be monstrously expensive, the Quest 3 is already far too much to be worth it.

From a hardware perspective it seems the best bang for your buck currently(which isn't saying a lot), but PCVR support seems a bit...iffy. Or at least not as ubiquitous.

>250 buckaroos in the US right now,
What the fuck, it's more than $500 in my country. I thought tariffs were gonna make things more expensive over there?

Only issue is bluetooth, which you can easily solve by plugging the dongle into a usb 2.0 extension. Third-party adaptors are even better than the ones sony provides now.

They're clearing stocks in the US that's why it's so cheap. I'm seeing the headset go for 300 euros (and slightly less) in my shithole so you're not really breaking the bank either.

God damn. For $250 I would pick one up in a microsecond. Even a used refurbished one is still around $470, and that is not counting $70-80 for the adapter.

we would have more kino like HL Alyx if zuckerfuck didn't fuck up vr like a fucking greedy fuck

While others seem to recommend PSVR2 a lot, keep in mind that they use shitty fresnel lenses and that it has a very small sweetspot and everything outside of it gets very blurry. Quest 3 offers way better image clarity because it uses pancake lenses, which is reason enough to be the preferrable option for VR on a budget if you ask me.

it really depends on a lot factors depending on your setup and environment or preferences. quest 3 is really good for comfort as long you have a good router next to you, preferb in 6GHZ (useful if you dont have enough room next to your PC and as other anon said, it has good lense but the downside is that theres latency/ and image compression involved especially if youre trying to do 120hz. on quest you really have to do 80hz to get the best results. while PSVR2 has OLED, 120hz with minimal latency/video compression and foveated rendering. but you have to be wired and after getting used to wireless after doing wired on quest 2, having a wire is kinda fucking annoying unless you have autistic setup where the wire is just dangling from your ceiling. i say theyre both probably really good depending on how you see it
