Kirby Air Ridr hasn't omitted necessary characters from their roster either for stupid or greedy reasons. If they left off someone like Waddle Dee people would have been more vocal. Also the Kirby cast of characters is smaller, so its highly likely we'll get nearly everyone we want.

Mario Kart has had playable mooks for a while. World is a bit different as it took the most random of enemies to just glued their asses to the seat of a car, such as Swoopers or Fishbones.

Because Air Riders isnt a roster game. THe first game had Kirby, with dedede and meta knight being pretty shit secret characters that didnt do anything, it was basically kirby and only kirby and we liked it. All this shit is just kind of a nice bonus

Frankly, it's because Kirby mooks all have a little bit of personality to them. You could look at just about any Kirby mook and wonder what they get up to on a day to day basis. Most Mario mooks are just designed to be in the way. An obstacle for Mario to obliterate before moving on. But Kirby doesn't even kill for the sake of them being in his way. He could easily float past any foe in his way. But 90% of mooks in Kirby serve a purpose. They all have an essence that Kirby himself is able to adopt. In a way, Kirby honors the mooks in his series. They do not die meaningless deaths, and they are not forgotten along the way. Even should you find an essence you prefer, you have to willingly bid farewell to the previous mook that helped you along the way. One final salute to the funny little guy who bestowed upon you its power.

I don't care about MK, the only MK I owned is 8 and I only played one track. I only got it because at the time there was no smash bundle.
I care about Air Ride though, completely different game.

I hope they improve the racing part, because it was honestly not that great.
the tracks were often times pretty thin but you can just slide along invisible walls without any penalty, some abilities are even auto attack. The most you ever did was drifting and spinning into enemies.
Top Ride was genuinely more interactive.

I don't hate the roster for MKW, it just seems like they didn't really think it through. It's fine. I have Chargin' Chuck.

Given that the Susie model in Riders looks to be a touched up one from SA, I can see HAL doing the same thing for the characters here.
Meanwhile popular Mario characters like Diddy and Petey are no shows in the big dam new game for a new system, and other popular characters from older titles (many who might never be seen again unless that particular game is remade) get nothing.

Exactly. Fighting recycled bosses is whatever, that's par for the course-Nintendo's been doing that since time immemorial. But when your whole level is beat-for-beat something you've already played in two other games, it stops being "homage" and starts feeling like a dev timesaver. Forces felt like a fan game stapled to a marketing plan, and Frontiers tried covering its ass with “open zone” nonsense but half the cyberspace stuff is just colors/Generations leftovers in HD. At least Kirby makes new stages for old gimmicks.

The truth is kirby doesnt have much in terms of memorable characters in the first place, as they go out of their way to make most of them one-and-dones. No one is going to care about baddie or helper of the week if they show up once in the 40 year old franchise.

That is not the same "problem" as Mario btw, MKW already has like 90% of their more memorable characters, the problem there is that Mario fans want the spin-offs side characters that sometimes get a cameo to take preference over the mooks of the ACTUAL mario franchise, so stuff like diddy, funky, mona and ashley should be chosen over BEE or FISHBONES

I think the thing that now bothers me about playable mooks in Mario Kart is that what's the divide between mooks who are "real" characters like Koopa Troopa and Lakitu who get costumes and the others who don't? In a game that's partly about getting costumes it seems weird to have a large portion of the roster never get them.
