When the hornets attack Snake after his duel with Ocelot why the hell did he jump in that bottomless abyss? And how did he survive that fall? This is way more impressive and hardcore than surviving the initial bridge fall

And another question: when EVA arrives before ADAM in the abandoned warehouse under the pretense that ADAM was late, she knows that ADAM is supposed to meet Snake in that same location and that he will probably arrive soon. So why does she tell Snake to sleep there? Wouldn't this be giving the real ADAM the opportunity to intercept them?
