in lore, in battletech, mechs were made because they could carry more weapon tonnage per tom than tanks
Not making tanks irrelevant but making them better than most tanks and way more flexible.
At least that's the in lore explanations
Still at least battletech is a combined arms gaemnwith focus on the mechs because thats6the shit that sells and in lore tanks are still scarry despite them being cheaper and carrying less weapons. Sole tanks are true mech killers.
