I'm sure we all agree that this should not have been a Banjo title, but what would you say are its greatest flaws in terms of game design?

There's always something about these build-your-own-stuff adventure games that never quite clicks but I've yet to really put my finger on it.

I think it's that getting creative with your designs doesn't really matter, at least outside of the early hours, since you'll eventually make a machine that does everything (and even then, you have blueprints, so you don't actually have to build anything).

Then everything you do with your vehicle is within missions, so the worlds themselves are left big and empty. However, in the hub world, vehicle parts do matter for progression, except you can't use custom vehicles in the hub. It feels simultaneously both too open and too restricted.

they took a winning formula of puzzle solving and platforming, and turned it into something players had no desire for.
