Roblox is killing Gaming as we know it
Not only does it endanger its younger users and fail to protect them, but it's an unregulated platform built on the backs of its userbase/developers; a platform that socially parasitizes its players into its ecosystem and propagandizes- rewires peoples brains into itself.
The idea of games as a medium, an art form, is scoffed by the AAA industry itself oftentimes, but Roblox takes it a step beyond- many people growing up with the notion that what games 'are' being Roblox: a place where everygame has a buy in for your frustrating solutions, and where everything is overly monetized, but it's the whole platform! It's become the norm for them, like the greediest mobile game but greedier. This is spurred by the premium price players pay to get robux, 12.50 usd for 1000, and the picrel, the cash out price completely out of sync. 1 robux typically considered to be like 1 penny? Well no, 1m pennies would be 10,000 dollars, in robux, 1m bux is 3,500.
Worse still is the social propaganda- how the fun had on the platform turns to social pressure among its userbase, and a lack of critical thinking is exploited, but even worse, kids don't even know what real games are anymore.
Sure, the gaming industry as a whole has hurt that plenty, fortnite also being similar to roblox, and with people nowadays more obsessed over individual game success and player numbers on steamDB than the quality of the games themselves- making the console war obsolete, and ushering in the 'platform war' which roblox now thrives in, having the most played 'game' in history on its platform... but people enmasse live on these platforms, playing slopful tycoon ripoff idlecgames ad nauseum, and not having the critical appreciation of games as a medium because they've lived in an ecosystem where games have never been anything more than 'experiences' to jump between.
This is how a staggering amount of the """gaming""" audience actually is now. Basically trained on mobile game slop. This is the future of gaming.
