It just had some many fucking issues. It has stupid shit that immediately turned away new players, and kept implementing shit that turned away old players.
They refused to fix problems, kept introducing more, and monetized it like they already had a playbase in the millions to boot.
They had a whole goddamn year to improve the game and add content, but instead they spent it remaking it in a new engine to terrible results.
Velma basically did not function after the engine swap, and had cooldowns on her abilities that literally lasted more than half the length of a match.
Jake was kept literally purposefully unplayable for months because the devs couldn't figure out how they wanted him to play.
Every patch gave Finn a new touch of death combo.
They just had no fucking clue how to balance shit.
They really fucking decided to make the new player experience as garbage as fucking possible with the fighter road shit, that basically guaranteed the death of the game. They finally added that character you had been waiting for so you decide to give the game a try? To play them you have to grind literally hundreds of hours to unlock every other character in the game first (or you can give us $30 lmao)
The high difficulty single player content was balanced around co-op, but didn't have any kind of co-op matchmaking. The ability to be able to reliably do some single player content was dependent on you having done single player content from previous seasons, so if you didn't play the previous seasons, say, because you were a new player, there were rewards that you were basically locked out from.
They implemented shields without implementing fucking grabs to balance them
Every other character was some new literal who when they could have been releasing characters people actually fucking cared about.
I'm about to run out of characters here and I feel like I barely covered a tenth of this shitshow's problems.
