For the Japanese playerbase, it's the only option for people who want a traditional console. Nintendo's currently the strongest it may have ever been in Japan considering they have no other real competition after Sony fumbled like crazy. It doesn't matter what (You) personally think of Nintendo in your region of the world. In Japan, they're the only video game option outside of the very small percentage who are still playing games on PlayStation or PCs.
