Somebody just snipe the translation of this game off Iwakura already!

If you don't speak Japanese by now you don't actually care about Japanese games.

That not 2, dipshit. 2 is a mainline that never seen the light of day in english and the only translation that exist is from a Chaosfag 20 years ago.

What is this guys problem? I mean for crying out loud we only managed to get a translation for the PSP version of EP by thankful happenstance. Is there some sort of ego these guys have?

I thought I was the only one who cared about this game. I played it with a script and it has a really interesting story but I won’t spoil anything. It has fun gameplay but less quality of life improvements seen in later games. I liked it more than Soul Hackers 1 but SH1 has that fun 90s era hacking B movie vibe and better gameplay. SH2 was a load of shit no more Devil Summoner for us. Would be nice to get an English translation it would be a good excuse to replay the game.

better than nothing
btw the guy that translated the PS1 version of SMT 1 said he was interested in translating SMT 2, but only after he finished his translation of Persona 1, the thing is, it's been months without any updates from him

So did I. I remember looking on Iwakura's Twitter page constantly for any updates to no avail. And then what happened after the whole EP fiasco. I just knew there was little to no chance Devil Summoner's would see the light of day. At least not by him. Call me autistic but that's partly why I never played Soul Hackers. I wanted to playthrough this game first.

Hijacking your OP, but I'm super glad that a group is finally translating the Fullmetal Alchemist 3 game for PS2.

How many times has someone attempted to translate this only to disappear or give up after a couple years? I feel like its happened a couple times.

Honestly, it's wild how these cliques of fan translators treat these games like their personal hostage. "Ohh I hold the sacred script, praise me while I do absolutely nothing for 3 years!" Like bro, either release something or pass the torch-don't shelf it out of pride. Whole projects dying because some rando got cold feet and refuses to let anyone else touch it. At this point, I'm surprised they haven't put the patch behind a $50 Patreon tier and a Discord role.

I mean if a fan translator truly cared why not simply share it to the masses? Is it just pure spite and egotism? Wow, I have the only copy and no one else can experience it. It's not like you can make money out of it or something. Reminds me of wealthy collectors that got their hands on old TV programs that were never meant to reair. Like Classic Doctor Who, there still collectors holding on to tapes of lost episodes because of their inherent value. But what's the point since you can't sell it?

why do translators do this? you remember those faggots who were translating princess crown FINALLY coming out of the woodworks once somebody else started translating it? and that guy is already fucking done with it while they've been at it for 10 years. absolutely insane.

Still such a retarded behavior. It's just translating the game
>b-b-but the other people said they were about to translate it!!1!
Then why didn't they?

They did that with Eternal Punishment (though being fair to CJ: That was just him Turducken'ing the PSX translation of EP into the PSP version), so I doubt he has given the translation to anyone other than a patcher if he's even done any of the work given he announces like 10 fucking things.

This was the case for MH Frontier until a group of disgruntled Italians leaked the server files.
Within like 3 months, we had better translations, game modes that crashed working, and Raviente (Server-wide boss fight the original guy was sitting on for years) working.

FYI the guy rage-quit the internet. AFAIK he's not around anywhere anymore.

i just don't get it. if you don't think you can do it in a good amount of time, why not ask for help? why not let other people do it? why keep shit to yourself for clout, knowing people have to depend on you for it? just seems retarded as hell to me
Anonymous No.719689004

It's an ego thing.
They just LOVE the feeling of being the "center", the "only one". If they cared about it being done it would be on a public repo and allowed it to be a collaborative effort.

That's also why they get so mindbroken when someone else does it without their permission.

More on this story, iirc the Italians (who were in the private server) were pissed at the guy for doing some retarded Dark Souls-themed server event instead of working on the Raviente stuff like he promised, which is when he said he'dmake the files public.
They figured he'll just keep delaying and never release it, so they leaked it.

>translation groups "reserve" a game
>two decades pass, some randoms decide to just do it
>translation group suddenly releases it

I used to be grateful, but now it's obvious these are just retards sitting on it for internet clout in their small communities.

It seems like there's a lot of horror stories about translators being assholes. The most recent one I came across is for this game:

>Find interesting looking jrpg on RGT that just got an English translation

>Some type of non-linear quasi mmo style game with a bunch of cool character building options

>Download 1.0 version and give it a try

>Horrifically broken English, over half of the dialogue is complete nonsense, even the tutorial is completely garbled, so you can't even figure out how to play, let alone follow the plot

>People are complaining in the comments that this should not be a 1.0 release. the translator has a stickied comment saying they are working on improving it.

>People comment on the terrible quality more and more over time

>Translator calls them assholes for complaining about the quality of something they got for free, has a meltdown and deletes the discord dedicated to the project, even says that they have a new script with a better translation that they will never release because of people complaining

>never hear from them again

if there's any benefit to AI, it's that we might be able to somehow get better quality translations without these retards. enough of the autistic drama queens, I'm tired of their pissy gate keeping
