What was your moment when you realized hollow knight was fucking good? For me it was entering the Greenway and having that theme hit.

I had to stop playing for a minute and just listen. It wasnβt my first indie game, but it was far and away my understanding that indies could be something not only capable of contenting with studios like Nintendo or Bungie or DICE but outright surpassing them. Games like Cave Story and Undertale were very much something that proved indies could be more compelling than major games by simply doing novel things major publishers were too scared to do. Hollow knight showed me they could just be outright better. I had just finished playing through the Prime trilogy as well, so I guess what impressed me the most was just how clean and enjoyable the exploration was by comparison. I love the Primes but they can be a bit rough in some areas. HK has the advantage of 2D but even comparisons to Fusion and Super and Zero, well, itβs honestly not fair. Those games all came first, HK of course is possible because of what they proved in their own designs.
