Breath of Fire 3 which I recently finished. The early game feels like a fun game where you get to know the world and characters that shape up everything but then you get to the second half of the game after the time skip and becomes a stale "welp, back to where we left", then the late game is nothing happens for 10 hours but with a predictable twist and it's over.

I fucking loved the geth/quarian bit and thought "well if they fuck it up past here the game was worth it for that ending at least." How I was wrong.

borderlands, skyrim, and other games with "level scaling" where enemies turn into HP sponges

destroys the feeling of the combat, you feel like you're doing math on the enemy healthbar with a weapon-shaped abacus rather than using a weapon

Yep. At best, you get easter eggs of your decisions in ME2 especially but none of your decisions in the previous games lead to more sublots in 3 especially since the final choices in the ending just lead to color coded endings.

Programmatic level scaling where all enemies are f(x) strong when you're at level x is the laziest, dumbest shit ever. It's just the developers being too fucking idle to put effort into thinking about deliberate progression / zone balance choices. Hate it.
