Is this really worth 60 dollerydoos /v/?
I see it getting 9s snd 10s everywhere
I love 2d Metroids but don't enjoy 2st person games that often.
fucking ninty never putting anything on sale ever, put this shit on sale for at least 50% off to get people to buy Prine 4 at full price on release fuck

Did it go up in price due to low availability? It launched at 40.

I think it's worth whatever price. More of a 3d metroid game with puzzle fights than an fps, since you use lock on for aiming most of the time. But you COULD just emulate the original (or the remaster).

Id just play prime hack if money is tight.
They probably should have remastered the whole trilogy rather than just prime 1.
But yeah, prime 1 is for sure worth a play.

Metroid Prime 1 is a genuine masterpiece. It is absolutely worth it.

>>719698546
Only a point in its favor. You can actually finish it in a reasonable amount of time.

>>719698418
>They probably should have remastered the whole trilogy rather than just prime 1.
It would be stupid of them to not give the same treatment to 2 and 3. But then, this IS Nintendo we're talking about.

OP here
Yeah this bothers me, like if I really like Prime 1 and wanna play 4, just go fuck myself I guess if I want to play 2 and 3 first unless I pirate or pay scalpers?
Wtf are ninty thinking?
You don't even have to go to the same effort as prime 1
Just upscale to 720/1080 and call it a day

Lol. You hit on the head, the Prime games have aged quite well and you could just upscale them. Give Prime 1 a try and if you like it, wait for the next direct. If they're not willing to sell you the other two games, just hit up Dolphin.

Personally I chose to emulate the Primehack rerelease on Dolphin than remastered on Yuzu

Firstly because I'm pretty fucking sick of remakes and remasters; if I'm playing an early 2000s era game I want it to look like a game of the era, especially if it's a good looking one like Prime. I think that revamping the lighting engine just makes it look like a weird frankenstein of old and new tech. Like the Gamecube doesn't look like a Gamecube game, but it doesn't look cutting edge either. It's like an amalgametion of PS2, PS3 and PS4 era visuals which is way less appealing than something "period accurate" which was cuttinge edge for its time. Of course I grew up with the Gamecube/PS2, if you didn't then maybe you won't give a shit about this sort of authenticity.

Secondly because the game actually works really great with native M&KB controls. You would suspect it would be way too easy, but the game was balanced around auto-aim so many of the enemies move around a lot and it's not trivial to hit them even with the accuracy of a mouse.

I hate to evangelize but you'd have to be half a retard to actually pay $60 for a 2002 game, remastered though it may be. Your fucking phone is liable to be able to emulate this shit at full speed and a resolution boost to boot, to say nothing of a prope PC

No. The most overrated game ever made and a poor translation from 2D to 3D.

Atmosphere and music are good but gameplay is boring and stopping to scan the environment every 10 seconds completely kills the pacing.

The only good Metroid Prime game is literally Metroid Prime Pinball.

Primehack is basically the definitive way to play the Trilogy, though I don't really agree with using mouselook for Prime 1 and 2. They weren't designed for it and it becomes very apparent as you play through combat sequences in particular. Then again, you kind of saw that in the Wii releases where they added the waggle aim from Prime 3, as well.

I'm just tired of having to keep buying rereleases and remasters to remind Nintendo that yes there is an audience for this series stop trying to put it back to bed just because it doesn't make Mario numbers.

But they never really stopped. They just made some weird shit that nobody asked for. Metroid was never in the same place as F-Zero which just peaked and then Nintendo didn't do much with the franchise for 20 years.

That has never been true. Metroid was never a big seller for Nintendo overall but both the original Prime and Dread were big successes for the franchise. They wouldn't have made three sequels, three spinoff games, a rerelease collection, and a remaster for Prime if they didn't feel it was popular.
Anonymous No.719708698
Anyone else find it kind odd how Metroid, despite being a niche IP, is held up to this really high standard by the company?

>>719703653
I mean, I guess that's part of it. Much as I would be delighted for it being solely because Metroid fans have standards, that seems like to easy an answer.

Nope. Here are a summary of our arguments:
>1) Overrated
Metroid Prime doesn’t compare with modern classics like Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 or Battlefield 6.
>2) Too short
Metroid Prime is basically a minigame. 15 hours? Hello, Nintendo? No wonder this sold for $20 back in 2005.
>3) Better free options
We’re gamers, and by that I mean we don’t pay. Haven’t you heard about the latest ROM hack/decompile/Unity port? You can even play with mouse and keyboard. How rad is that? That’s the true artist’s vision for this game.

I remember when this remaster came out and so many people said it was too hard. People kept getting stuck or just didn’t know what to do. I remember playing the original on the GameCube when I was a dumb little kid who couldn’t even speak English, and yet I managed to beat this game. If anything, I occasionally got stuck with bosses like Meta Ridley and Omega Pirate, but never with the puzzles or exploration. And then I grew up and I heard all these supposedly intelligent people getting filtered by this game and I finally understood why modern games have yellow paint and assassin vision everywhere
