>Be me
>Never play any ARPG ever
>Get into the PoE2 hype
>Check out D4 and PoE2
>find out that all my proggress will be wiped out in every 3 months
What's the point of playing then?

Neither of those games have any roleplaying so it can't be an RPG.

Should've played an actually good game like Grim Dawn, Torchlight, Chronicon, Titan Quest or Diablo 2.

Do they have seasons?

It's a very bizarre model that these games follow, an entirely masochistic endeavour where you're reduced to nothing every few months. They don't even make it fun for those three months, the drops are stingy as fuck and you might never see the highest tier items.

So what's the point of playing. Like I would understand that there is a reset after everybody is having super endgame gear.

No, you can play them fully offline singleplayer.

It's a wierd "semi-live service" that ARPGfags seem to have fostered. B8t if you play solo you can ignore the FOMOshit that ARPGs have become. It sucks how half of game development in ARPGs is now for FOMO content though.

To test new builds and changes
Literally every mmorpg does the same thing but nobody cares. Wow wipes player progress every patch

Also poe has permanent league and never wipes your progress. Even if you play seasonal it will transfer into the permanent league.

nothing is wiped you retard
you are moved to the "standard" league where you can play and grind forever

it's just a new league/season that is started every 3-4 months, with new twist and fresh economy
it's fun and most people that play those prefer it this way. This is not an mmo. You level and reach end game really fast. It's fun creating new characters, testing new builds, starting new economy. It's a reason for a lot of people to start playing at the same time and it's amazing when the game is so alive.
It's just a good system.

People who play a ARPG don't want mmo shit.

"FOMO" content? So patches are now fomo content? Usually if mechanic is removed from poe it was because the reception was shit. I do hope they add offline mode someday thou

Maybe because in an MMO I am doing new content, not replaying the same game.

That's part of the problem. These games are an attempt to be a single player version of an MMORPG like WoW but you don't lose your character and currency when there's an update in WoW and you get a whole slew of new content to play through. If WoW had followed this model it would have collapsed at the first update.

Building you character from scratch is the best part.

Play neither of those and play Grim Dawn instead

No, don't bother with any of those games and play Torchlight 2 instead.

Play on standard then, nerd. The fun of this type of games is the grind anyway, D2 survived for so long because of the leagues every feel months.
