I enjoyed both games and know nothing about Homestuck.

The only thing I even know about this game is how the studio that was originally hired for it just stole the money and did something else with it instead.

This is victim-blaming. Hussie came from an abusive background and quite possibly lived with an abusive parent(s) the entire time he was making Homestuck. He did get money involved with Hiveswap once a team had inserted themselves into Homestuck and the possibility of a traditional indie game was on the table, but he never charged anything for Homestuck proper, so it’s unacceptable to try to frame Hussie’s assailants as justified in any way.
