I enjoyed this game but I hated how if you failed a level you had to go through the whole day phase again.
I understand why the MC has to move slowly around the map during the night phase, so he couldnโ€™t just zoom round the map taking out every enemy and rendering your units obsolete, but if you just wanted to make minor tweaks having to repeat the whole setup got super repetitive

BTD6 is fine, once you get over the hell grind that exists to torment new players.
>Multiple towers locked behind totally separate grinds you can't even start until you've unlocked all the base towers
>Paragon EXP grind
>MM for all the Heroes (new players won't know who they'd enjoy using so they'd wanna get all of them)

The best approach is to just play it.
Once you're over the initial unlock wall which you do by just playing and leveling up, your main grinds are EXP and MM.
EXP has a really.. questionable allocation rate.
Basically, every time you finish a wave, your Towers receive EXP as a resource for permanently unlocking upgrades. It doles it out according to how much in-round money you invest in that type of tower. So if you place down a dart monkey and it's your only tower, it gets all the EXP. If you place down 10 dart monkeys and 1 boomerang, the dart will get most of the EXP. If you place down one leveled-up dart and a normal boomerang, the dart will get more EXP because you invested money in its upgrades.
So EXP grind for the most part is just using a lot of one tower or using it often so it steadily gets there over multiple rounds.
Then there's Monkey Money, which is a bitch at first, but smooths out hugely as you progress.
The first and most important part is that once you reach a high enough level, you start gaining Monkey Knowledge. One of the earliest points in the Magic Knowledge tree gives a raw +10% Monkey Money. It's free except for the points themselves, unlike most Monkey Knowledge.
After that, it just comes down to playing the game a lot and avoiding wasting MM.
>Do Maps you haven't cleared, avoid replaying
>Do Dailies (the normal one is almost always super easy and the challenge one is usually a puzzle you can try to solve OR just look it up, someone posts the solution every day)
>Do Events, mainly Odysseys
And as you keep going, it'll smooth out.
As for spending...

>Get a good Hero, your best free Hero is Obyn in most cases, after that, it comes down to what you like doing, Benjamin gets you tons of money, Ezili trivializes early blimps, Adora is a powerhouse that you can build around, Brickell is great but waterlocked, Etienne deletes Camo from the game, Sauda is a tack shooter, Geraldo can solo many maps, I don't know much about the newer ones cause I quit around here and then lost my save and support couldn't help me either
>Monkey Knowledge will take you a lot of MM to get through, way, way too much of it, just dump it as you see fit, there's no inherently wrong choice (spending 2k MM on a reset will make it so any previously-bought nodes don't cost MM to put a point into it again)
>In total, you need 33k MM to buy up every upgrade, but by the time you're eligible to do that, you should have that much
And then Paragons are just a longer EXP grind and only relevant for the Boss event, where they're not mandatory, but highly highly desired.

It comes with the fact that it's really simple. The game basically tells you exactly what to do at all times. Defending your base isn't particularly hard. There's just not much to talk about.
Anonymous No.719717750

>it's really simple
yep, that's the problem. It's not complex enough to scratch that zachtronics/factorio itch, so autists aren't enthralled... and then it's not shallow enough for normies because the factory aspect scares them

gemcraft when it was a flash game on newgrounds, I don't remember what it was called then but thats the best one. anyway, the argument for best TD game would have to be a flash game from newgrounds back in the day

The past week all I've done is wake up and play Riftbreaker all day but I had to keep the voices muted for it to be enjoyable. It doesn't have much depth but you can set the custom difficulty to make the RTS side of the game shine.
Anonymous No.719720109
TD is overall pretty boring as in, the genre already peaked with shitty flash games Ant Defender, Gemcraft, Kingdom, Bloons.
Most games don't bring a lot of new stuff to the table.

Kunitsu was great because it leaned more towards managing a squad and filler with some action and exploration gameplay.
Only game in the genre I'm looking forward to is the moving castle indie game.

>day phase
you know you could speed it up time and skip to night in like a minute.
A worse offender was some night phases. Sometimes you could kill shit so fast you had to wait until more stuff spawn.
I think I had to replay one level at least 5 times, that solo level where you don't have any villagers, for the challenge where Yoshiro can't take any damage.

one important detail to mention is that once you finish a map and enter freeplay/endless mode exp gain is cut down to 10%, so early on you're best off exiting out and starting a new run instead of continuing playing if you're trying to get exp. Also note that heroes don't steal tower exp so the best way to level a tower and get the upgrades for it is to only use that one tower type and your hero
>>719714720
> I don't know much about the newer ones
Psi is a slow sniper that insta kills targets. Corvus has 20 different spells and can actually solo maps if you really want to micro that much. Rosalia can be moved around mid game and gains flying, letting her ignore sight blockers and letting you place her over the track. Silas just came out a week ago and is an ice monkey.
As for actual recommendations on who's good, Sauda is the best for a new player since she excels on the easy maps that have good curves to place her on. Ben is good too but requires you to have more knowledge of what other towers are worth spending money on instead of being a carry himself.
