You can buy cheap copies of better chairs on Amazon, they're obviously not as good as the real thing, but they're better than those meme gamer chairs.

You can find alright shit under 2k, but not great. I always found it funny that gaymers called gaming chairs overpriced, even though 200 bucks for a chair is cheap

Used to be those racing bucket style chairs were turbo expensive when they first started showing up, a combination of mass manufacture and everybody figuring out racing buckets are AWFUL for comfort and ergonomics (heedless of actual drivers saying buckets suck ass) dropped the price a ton

get whatever chair you want from staples, get their asurion 3 year insurance, after 2 years and 11 months say "my chair is broken!"
get a free chair, buy another 3 years of insurance.

rinse, repeat. I got my first chair in 2020 for $300, plus $50 for the plan. Then in 2023 I complained to them, sent pictures, got a refund for the chair, bought the same one, and got the $50 plan again.

Best thing? I still have the old chair.

You can find adequate chairs for sure but none will be good.
I actually ended up falling for the Herman Miller shills but I don't have any regrets, it truly is great for your posture and it its sturdy too.
I wouldn't call it the most comfortable though as like I said, it forces correct posture.

It takes a certain amount of dedication but I have done this before:

Junkyard car seat. Less than $30 for something more durable and comfy than a piece of shit $300 office chair. Just set it on the floor and have a very low desk. Really helps with cutting out slouching if you get the ergonomics right and have your screen(s) just above eye level.

Only reason I don't do it now is no room.

I got some from my old job when they were renovating office for like $10. Steelcase, brand new would be just under a grand.
Moral of the story is get a job, either they gonna give you a chair for cheap or you'll make money and $200 won't be an insurmountable expense anymore.
