>Master Duel on a drought, mismanaged with unbanlists, worthless bundles and Konami thinks it's smart to buff one of the two strongest decks at the moment with new support
>TCG bastardizing archetypes with horrible localization and continuous censorship, with the newest pic related archetype translated from "Killer Tune" to "Kewl Tune" as to not scare christian mothers
>Worlds ended with a fart, with Maxx "C" deciding the outcome of the final duel
>card lore animations are not even 5 minutes long and each one takes a month to be released, people have lost interest
>the only videogame they have bothered to release was a rom collection with many games playing almost exactly the same

What is even going on with Yu-Gi-Oh at the moment?

I hope there are no Maliss hits, I stil haven't played this deck even though I built it like a month ago.

Censorship issues aside the TCG format is actually really fun right now. Dracotail, Yummy, and VS are all really fun and well designed decks. I actually don't even think Master Duel's format is that bad. A two-deck format maybe isn't ideal but both of those decks are straight forward enough to have obvious answers. I even like some aspects of Ryzeal's gameplay design but they should probably ban Bagooska while it's playable.

Thinking about it a bit more, I think more than anything the current issues with Master Duel reveal that the biggest issue with the game is less the individual archetypes and more the general banlist philosophy. In no world should Bagooska and Apollousa be legal at the same time as archetypes like Malice and Ryzeal. Both of those archetypes are very consistent combo decks that mostly rely on removal for their interaction but Bagooska/Apo give them access to floodgate/negate tactics that they would otherwise not really have. And the same could be said for a lot of archetypes that use those cards. I've had a lot of games against Vaalmonica that would've otherwise been fine but because I didn't have an out to Bagooska or wasn't on a Link deck I just auto-lost. Same goes for a lot of Apo decks and monster negates.

Master Duel could make a lot of it's formats a lot more tolerable by banning obnoxious MD/ED tools that lead to no-win gamestates but instead we'll get a banlist next month that puts White Rabbit and Star Ryzeal to 2 and they'll pretend anything has been meaningfully changed.

For me the biggest draw is that a lot of your "going second" tools are in-engine as opposed to being generic hand traps/board breakers. Holy Sue for instance can summon itself on either turn, grab another VS from deck OR act as a snatch steal on an opponent's monster. And of course if you grab a Razen/Mad Love/Caesar Valius those cards can use their own effects as disruption. The K9 package just re-inforces this, allowing you to go into Rank 5 XYZs on your opponent's turn with Izuna+Lupus or Lupus+Holy Sue. I slightly prefer pure VS for aesthetic reasons but there's no denying that the K9 version is a lot stronger.

But in general I much prefer the VS style of gameplay where you accrue incremental advantage over a longer, lower to the ground game. You have combos, and even explosive ones with the new support and K9 cards, but the attribute requirements means you're always approaching a hand differently. Plus the attribute requirements means you can really make the build your own by teching in whatever Earth/Fire/Dark cards you think would be best. IMO it's just a really smartly designed deck and the field spell finally gave the archetype the consistency it needed to compete.

>I actually don't even think Master Duel's format is that bad. A two-deck format maybe isn't ideal but both of those decks are straight forward enough to have obvious answers.

It wouldn't be so bad if said decks weren't hyperconsistent and required different kinds of outs to deal with them. And as you said, the issue is that they both still have access to some really strong ED cards, specifically Apollousa, but instead of dealing with those cards which should have been banned a long time ago, they instead give us yet another unbanlist where they do nothing but unlimit cards again. Meanwhile we're on a several days drought until the next pack arrives and the Duel Trials we're getting don't really do anything to improve the state of the game.

The other ones (except puppet since it's banned) do work, but D/D is about to get a support wave that makes them at least rouge tier, so Vice Requiem is risky.
Kristya is suboptimal since it affects both players, and Dracotail (and certain Branded cards) need to be able to special summon in order to do anything on the opponent's turn.

It was just a YGOrg one they guessed at because the TCG is fond of alliteration. The name is White Forest because of the similarly named classic "Witch of the Black Forest" instead.
Also you missed the horrendous "Hecahands" localization of the Hecatoncheires. That whole DBP has been utterly shit on by localization, which is a shame since Justice Hunters wasn't, Dracotail was forced to be that way because of copyright trolls and Yummy and K9 are intact.

I don't think you get his point.
That's not the issue; the archetype is called "Killer Tune", not just "Killer", so it has nothing to do with Killer Needle or other such cards.
He meant that it doesn't make sense to censor the word "killer" when there are already cards that use it in the localization.
Anonymous No.719744987
>>719744407

Actually, Killer Needle is the only card in the game that has "killer" in its name, and if you look for the word "kill", you will instead get cards with variations of the word "skill". So yeah, a quarter century later and TCG keeps thinking that soccer moms will get angry at no no words.
