It's bad for the industry by conditioing the consumer to demand lower cost games. Team Cherry could pull it off because they grifted enough people into donating for their kikestarter to cover their losses by selling it at $20. Actual game devs don't get to double dip like that so they need to charge full price. It is an incredibly scummy move by Team Cherry, but par for course with jewish australians.
Anonymous No.719719197
It's insidious, plain and simple. This kind of shit makes AAA devs look bad, Team Cherry just has no respect.

"People" are not. There's the occasional joke about fans saying they wanna give more money but no one's seriously upsey.
"Indie shitdevs with more pretention than brains" are complaining about it being too cheap. But they aren't people, just soulless husks.

AAA publishers are having their media push this so that you don’t forget you’re supposed to pay $100 + tip and a monthly subscription for 60% of a broken game.

I didn't make a big deal about it, until you guys said there's no concern at all. There is some concern about the cheap pricing, and amongst the people who care, they could have their own discussions about it. But then you fags come along like 'UHHHHMMMM, THERE'S NOTHING WRONG HERE. LOOK AWAY. STOP TALKING ABOUT IT. UGH, YOU'RE SO WHINY"
So then I have to actually get involved, because you pissed me off.

The industry is trying hard to push for 100$ games and the devs of this highly anticipated title just come out and say yeah it's 20 bucks. Why do you think they are mad?

Consumers (human beings) don't mind it, in fact they're happy.
Developers (satanic insect people) fear being undercut and not being allowed to grossly overprice their games.

>are people seriously complaining that it's too cheap
You're hearing that from 2 groups of people
1. hollow knight fags who worship the first game and want to support the devs financially, they'd pay well over 20
2. industry developers and indie developers, who are deathly afraid of their game being compared to silksong and think it could seriously harm their sales. they can already hear the "if a well-made indie i played for 50 hours only cost 20 bucks, why the fuck should i pay more than that for some 10 hour shittier indie game about depression?" and it terrifies them

It sold like gangbusters tho

In part due to being cheap as fuck and actually good

So no, their profits aren't comparable to yon run-of-the-mill indie fuckwit studio

Selling more games for less makes sense from a PR perspective as well. If HK was 40$ at release, there wouldn't be nearly as much hype or word of mouth, and sales from Silksong would be lower.

But by all means keep making and supporting dogshit that doesn't sell.

forgot to add the obvious, also AAA corpo faggot devs who want to charge you 100 bucks for an Unreal asset flip that was outsourced to a horde of indians and needs an 500$ CPU to not stutter like crazy and gives you 8 hours of gameplay

For this reason is why E33 was so successful and will continue to be. Nobody would give a fuck about that game if they tried to sell it for 80 Euros like Square Enix did with Forspoken.

Can you say that for certain? Worse games have succeeded at much higher prices, and substantially better games have done worse at cheaper.

More games sold = more interest and hype, getting over a threshold where your game is actually talked about and has vitality in the culture.

This in and of itself is good, and makes potential sequels more likely to succeed.
Nickel and diming your customer like a jew with pretty visuals but shallow gameplay, with a big price tag on top is a sure fire way to get *less* repeat customers. You understand this, right?

Fans are just being silly about how they would be willing to pay more for the game; the people actually complaining are indie devs because they fea their little games will be compared with it (like "wow your game is much simpler than Silksong and it costs pretty much the same?") and journos hanging from AAA developers' dicks who fear that investors might notice that their bloated studios full of useless nigs, troons, Jeets and women aren't exactly efficient.

Team Cherry is the gold standard for how kickstarter is supposed to be used.
They had a proof of concept, set a reasonable goal, made what they could despite not hitting the maximum, then used their success to implement those features for free.
They set it at a low price because they weren't stupid enough to think an unknown studio could get away with higher, then saw how the price caused a massive amount of lifetime sales and used the same strategy for the sequel.

Positive word of mouth + low price is what leads to indies turning into absolute goldmines.
Whenever someone is looking for a new game, a cheap game with a good buzz about it will be the first thing they gravitate towards.
