Half life is just a mericore shooter franchise
Like its alright but halo 2 is just a more fun game than either half life relasing around the same time as hl2 lol.
And has more impressive set pieces
And a more engaging story
And better gunplay
And a better ost
And actual multiplayer features that revolutionize the entire framework of matchmaking where hl2 just introduced drm to pc gamers
Why don’t you guys talk about halo2, didn’t have a console?

Like people act like it was the only shooter franchise for a decade
Its alright i played though both games twice
But i don’t understand same as star wars. Like the original trilogy is fine, but like terminator was the better 80s action films lol

i guess it was that initial wow factor and after that its mostly nostalgia. I can't say this for everyone but that was the case for me

That's really not my field of expertise, which game is a "better shooter", but to my understanding those games got really different attraction points. Halo's single-player campaign is good, but multiplayer is really where most of the meat of this game is. I believe it is thanks to halo people started saying "this game is good, but it's not worth its money because there's no multiplayer". While half-life showed that it can be fun to mess with physics and gameplay design, popularizing what people were calling gimmick shooters. TL;DR: both games are important for different reasons, halo just happens to be your personal favorite.

I think its just 4chan and its pc bias and if halo was a pc franchise it would be a different story and outlook on the trilogy. Half life really rode the wave of pc gaming was pretty dead like what else was their to play on computers in 2004, world pf warcraft lol?

Granted I'll give ravenholm a few points. that was the onloy part of the game I'd say "okay, mabye this game has a bit going for it."
