Sometimes I still get the urge to play "modern" WoW. but the last expansion I played was BfA. (gave up on Shadowlands at level 53)

Any good Legion private servers out there? It doesn't have to be highly populated. I'm fine with just normal dungeons, and maybe an LFR raid.

I did level a character through shadowlands and it was quite probably the worst area I've ever played in any game whatsoever, and the worst part is that if you follow the questline and do all secondaries they give you, you barely reach level 40, since you basically skip like 60% of the maps, and for the love of FUCKING GOD, who the hell though that forbidding flying in an old expansion was a good idea?
Plus, that's literally the most bullshit thing they do in the whole game, there's no reason to have dragonfliying from level 10 but be disallowed to use regular flying in some zones for no reason whatsoever.

because they stopped working on WoD patches after Hellfire Citadel and had like a year extra (if not more) to work on Legion. They simply abandoned WoD.

I didn't get a BiS legendary for 2 patches and just quit.

At some point they stopped trying to come up with new shit and just make every xpac a legion reskin. Here's your maps bro go do some epic dailies and weeklies on these maps to level up your meta progression
Don't forget to farm old dungeons for cheevos and mounts once you did all the timegated progress you can!

I enjoyed Legion but it was not because the game was amazing. Artifact grind, legiondaries, waiting around for order hall missions, extreme skill pruning etc. The gameplay was actually piss. It was enjoyable because the whole expansion was cool. The apocalyptic theme was cool. Order halls and artifact weapons were cool (HOLY SHIT IT'S THE ASHBRINGER). All the zones were cool. Illidan coming back and being an edgelord was cool. Going to Argus and fighting Argus was cool. If later expansions are marvelslop mixed with Tumblr fanfiction then Legion is Dragon Ball Z
