Auxiliaries were not outfitted in Roman armour unless they were prestigious units and for the most part, for most of the Empire auxiliaries were limited to that geographic location the Roman Empire and Legions were operating in due to local knowledge for example Julius Caesar was widely known for using Germanic Cavalry against the Gauls.
However they were not loyal to Rome, they were loyal to Rome's money and as soon as Julius Caesar was assassinated they returned back to Germania and began raiding Roman towns and cities they themselves helped to create in Gaul.
In short, Auxiliaries were nothing more than foreign mercenaries.

Yes I know Julius Caesar's period was still technically the Roman Republic, I was using a more widely recognised Roman leader and his units as an example. It's still Rome and still after the Marian reforms of the army which is what matters most.
